Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Core Duties Across All Programs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Ensures the physical and emotional safety of students, staff and guests<br>\u25cf Support logistics and implementation of programming, including trail maintenance, dining hall supervision and hosting, and activity preparation.<br>\u25cf Assist with daily facility upkeep including cleaning, organization, and basic maintenance of program areas.<br>\u25cf Develop, refine, and maintain program materials and lesson plans.<br>\u25cf Participate in professional development and required training (e.g., paraeducator certification).<br>\u25cf Deliver programming to a wide range of audiences, including students, families, teachers, and rental groups.<br>\u25cf Assist in kitchen, office, or other related roles when needed.<br>\u25cf Collaborate with visiting groups to ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment.<br>\u25cf Serve as a support for rental group needs, including dining, facilities, and program coordination.<br>\u25cf Lead nature-based and team-building educational programming for guests and rental groups.<br>\u25cf Maintain a high standard of customer service and uphold the reputation of Waskowitz as a professional, mission-driven outdoor learning center.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trail Team Specific Duties<\/strong><br>\u25cf Facilitate student-centered environmental and social-emotional learning using evidence-based practices<br>\u25cf Lead trail-based environmental education lessons focused on curiosity, exploration, and stewardship.<br>\u25cf Guide students in outdoor learning activities that emphasize nature connection and systems thinking.<br>\u25cf Build mentoring relationships with high school student leaders; train and support them in instructional and leadership roles.<br>\u25cf Mentor high school leaders in trail instruction and student engagement.<br>\u25cf Recruit, train, observe, evaluate, and support high school leaders.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cabin Team Specific Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Provide overnight supervision for students and high school leaders, ensuring a safe and inclusive living environment.<br>\u25cf Build mentoring relationships with high school student leaders; train and support them in instructional and leadership roles.<br>\u25cf Facilitate evening programs that build community and deepen learning through reflection and connection.<br>\u25cf Support the leadership development of high school students through ongoing mentorship.<br>\u25cf Recruit, train, observe, evaluate, and support high school leaders.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Education and Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>AA degree or<\/li>\n<li>High school diploma (or equivalent) and 72 college credits or<\/li>\n<li>High school diploma (or equivalent) and successful completion of an approved paraeducator assessment test<\/li>\n<li>Must be 21 years old or older<\/li>\n<li>Passionate about working in a Residential Outdoor Environmental Education program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Previous experience in outdoor education, environmental programming, or youth development<\/li>\n<li>AA or Bachelor\u2019s degree in Recreation, Natural Science, Environmental Studies, or a related field<\/li>\n<li>Bilingual in English and additional language(s) represented in the school community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Criminal background clearance<\/li>\n<li>All certificates, licenses, endorsements, permits, and vaccines (absent exemption) as required for this position by state and local authorities<\/li>\n<li>Paraeducator Certificate Program \u2013 After hire, must complete the Fundamental Course of Study and General Certificate pursuant to Chapter 28A.413 RCW and WAC 179. Timelines for completion vary based upon hire date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>KNOWLEDGE OF:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Overnight outdoor education programming<\/li>\n<li>Environmental\/Outdoor Education practices, philosophies<\/li>\n<li>Instructional techniques<\/li>\n<li>Outdoor\/Environmental curriculum<\/li>\n<li>Child and adolescent development<\/li>\n<li>School board policies and procedures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>ABILITY TO:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Communicate effectively verbally and in writing<\/li>\n<li>Operate a computer and related software<\/li>\n<li>Maintain effective working relationships with other people<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and present educational programs to various groups of various sizes<\/li>\n<li>Have a flexible schedule including early mornings, late evenings, overnight supervision, and some weekend responsibilities<\/li>\n<li>Work collaboratively with school and central office administrators, parents, and community member Demonstrate understanding of and experience with cultural competence<\/li>\n<li>Remain flexible to changes with calendar, assignments or situations<\/li>\n<li>Organize activities, set priorities, and follow instructions<\/li>\n<li>Comply with school board policies and follow administrative procedures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:<\/strong> Reports to Waskowitz Leadership Team<br><strong>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:<\/strong> The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
