Candidates within a commutable distance from Eugene are preferred.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>COMPENSATION\/PROGRAM DATES<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Crew Lead Training:\u202fSeptember 8th- September 20th, 2026\u202f($684\/week)\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Service Term:\u202fSeptember 22nd-December 18th, 2026\u202f($910\/week)\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>POSITION SUMMARY:<\/strong>\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>CWPC Crew Leaders (CLs) manage and supervise crews of up to 5 young adults,\u202fages\u202f19-26. Crew work\u202fschedule\u202fwill typically be Monday through Friday; however, schedules may vary for certain\u202ftrainings\u202for types of project work. While in session, CLs will\u202fbe responsible for\u202fimplementing a variety of fuel reduction projects, with\u202fmost of\u202fthe work being done on private lands for homeowners within 100 feet of their home. Saw work does not include\u202ffelling\u202fof large trees and consists of non-complex, A-level sawyer scope. CWPC crews do not actively put out fires\/dig fire\u202flines, and they are not prescription burn crews.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Leads will implement\u202fa safe\u202fand efficient crew experience, including&nbsp;facilitating&nbsp;and communicating work, communicating crew\u202fmeal\u202fand break times, and&nbsp;facilitating&nbsp;the educational curriculum. CLs are individuals with high work\u202fethic\u202fand integrity who embody compassion, patience, and an inspirational attitude. In many\u202fways, CLs\u202fteach our crew members how to navigate the&nbsp;crew&nbsp;work and social environment with grace and positivity. CLs deliver an impactful, educational experience to young people in their communities. This position can also provide an entry point into the fields of natural resource management, outdoor\u202feducation, and more. CLs\u202fassist\u202fin creating resilient communities in the face of Wildfire.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>POSITION DETAILS:<\/strong>\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong>\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Leadership and Mentorship<\/em><\/strong><strong>:<\/strong>\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CLs manage, supervise, and\u202fparticipate\u202fin all aspects of crew work from hauling rocks to stacking\u202fbrush\u202fand much more. CLs\u202fmaintain\u202fcrew discipline,\u202fresolve\u202fconflicts, and\u202festablishes\/maintains crew morale.\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>CLs provide formal and informal feedback to crew members with specific attention to safety, work productivity and quality, efficiency, teamwork, and leadership.\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<strong><em>Safety and Risk Management:<\/em><\/strong>\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversee the physical and emotional safety of crew members. Safety is the number one priority in everything we do, including work, education, and recreation. This includes not only the physical safety of participants but their mental and emotional safety as well.\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>CLs may\u202fbe responsible for\u202ftransporting the crew and equipment to and from the worksite daily, safely in a Northwest Youth Corps fleet vehicle.\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Project Management and Implementation<\/em><\/strong><strong>:<\/strong>\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"4\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\">CLs serve as the principal liaison with project partners and members of the local community. In the field, they will provide\u202fdirection\u202fto their crew with specific attention to safe work practices, proper tool use, work quality, and productivity.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Education Curriculum:<\/em><\/strong>\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CLs implement daily lessons based on Northwest Youth Corps&#8217; education curriculum (SEED), which incorporates environmental education, life skills development, nutrition and health, and job readiness credentials.\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>CLs are encouraged to bring their own positive skills and experiences to the education curriculum and use natural surroundings for teachable moments.\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Position Qualifications and Certifications\u202f<\/strong>\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At\u202fleast 20 years old.\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Current Driver&#8217;s License and acceptable driving record for the past three years (Driver&#8217;s License Background Check\u202frequired).\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Current WFA\/CPR certification\u202frequired\u202fbefore session start date.
