This program\u202foperates\u202fMonday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm (some variation expected, occasional Tuesday-Friday).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All missed days must be\u202fmade up\u202fto complete the service term, and supporting documentation may be\u202frequired\u202ffor compelling circumstances.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>BENEFITS\/PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES:\u202f<\/strong>Members receive a total stipend of $7,680 (before taxes) dispersed in pro-rated monthly increments, plus an AmeriCorps Education Award of $1,956.35 upon successful completion of the service term of 480 total hours, which can be used for college tuition, loans, trade schools, or outdoor certificates.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>UCF Crew members can gain industry-recognized credentials and skills that can be added to their CV\/Resume. These will help Crew members gain access to outdoor-related careers. Depending on your crew&#8217;s projects, training MAY cover the following topics:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\">Brush Cutter Operation and Maintenance&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\">Wood Chipper\u202fOperation\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"1\">Driver (select\u202fmembers only) and Trailer Use\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" data-aria-posinset=\"4\" data-aria-level=\"1\">Tool Use and Maintenance\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" data-aria-posinset=\"5\" data-aria-level=\"1\">Native and Invasive Species Identification\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" data-aria-posinset=\"6\" data-aria-level=\"1\">Forestry Education, including Tree Identification, Proper Tree Planting and Maintenance techniques, Common Health Issues in Trees, Surveying Techniques\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"2\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" data-aria-posinset=\"7\" data-aria-level=\"1\">OHSA Training\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:\u202f<\/strong>\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Help create robust urban forests that reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions to improve public health and well-being.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Northwest Youth Corps\u202fis\u202fseeking young people aged 19-26 interested in a jobs-training and educational\u202fopportunity, working outdoors while making a positive impact on the South Puget Sound&#8217;s urban forests.\u202fWork completed by this crew will help develop the urban tree canopy in areas\u202fdeemed\u202funderserved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Urban and Community Forestry (UCF) crew members will work with four other members and one crew leader to complete urban forest health projects. Experienced field staff provide training and education on urban forestry projects, including tree planting and maintenance, wildfire\u202ffuels\u202fmitigation, invasive plant management, and tree surveying. Field staff will provide training and education for all projects.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The work is physical and rigorous. Crews work in all weather and terrain and use a variety of hand and power tools in primarily urban areas.
