Experience<\/td>\n<td class=\"job-meta-value\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservationjobboard.com\/experience\/entry\">0 &#8211; 1 year<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"job-frame__description_content\">\n<p><strong>Monitoring Intern &nbsp;<\/strong><br>The Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA) is seeking passionate and dedicated people to support spawner survey monitoring between September 2026 and March 2027. &nbsp;Monitoring Interns will be accompanied by NSEA staff and support thorough weekly surveying of salmon in creeks in Bellingham by walking through 2-3 miles of creek and visually looking for salmon and redds and collecting and recording data. This position provides opportunities to build up professional skills such as field work, data collection, and communication to benefit future career pursuits. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The dates of this position are August 25 \u2013 March 31, one day per week between Monday and Friday. Priority given to those consistently available on Tuesdays. Weekly schedule will be one 710-hour shift depending on the length of the survey. The weekly survey may be rescheduled due to weather or other conflicts. When possible, the survey will be rescheduled for a day the intern is available, however hours are not guaranteed if a reschedule must be set for when the intern is not available. This position is contingent on funding.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Employee Classification: Temporary, Part-time, Non-exempt &nbsp;<br>Supervised by: Stewardship Program Coordinator &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities&nbsp;<\/strong><br>1. Support weekly one-day surveys.&nbsp;<br>2. Always follow strict survey procedures and safety standards.&nbsp;<br>3. Maintain and clean equipment after each use.&nbsp;<br>4. Communicate effectively with Stewardship Program Coordinator and other NSEA staff.&nbsp;<br>5. Other duties as assigned. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications<\/strong><br>\u2022 18 years or older.&nbsp;<br>\u2022 High school diploma or GED.&nbsp;<br>\u2022 Dependable with strong passion for NSEA\u2019s mission.&nbsp;<br>\u2022 Able to work on a team.&nbsp;<br>\u2022 Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.&nbsp;<br>\u2022 Able to stand, walk, lift and bend for up to 8 hours a day in all weather conditions&nbsp;<br>\u2022 Able to traverse miles of uneven ground safely and walk through and around creeks including navigating slippery surfaces, rocks, and steep slopes.&nbsp;<br>\u2022 Available to work one full day between Monday \u2013 Friday, 7:30am \u2013 4:30pm, each week.
