Snowdon is a small, non-profit operation whose mission is to rescue and rehabilitate injured and orphaned animals and return them to the wild. Interns live onsite at Snowdon and are expected to commit for 5 days of work per week (20-40 hours). Interns learn and provide all aspects of wildlife care at the sanctuary. The internship position involves working directly with the wild animals that come into the Sanctuary by rescuing wildlife in distress, assisting with intake exams on animals, administering medication\/therapy, capturing and restraining wildlife, and animal husbandry.<\/p>\n<p>Additional duties include: Enclosure and site maintenance (including snow removal), food preparation and feeding, night feedings, cleaning enclosures, general observation of animals\u2019 health, keeping the clinic clean, answering the telephone, and assisting the manager and assistant manager with additional duties as they arise.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location:<\/strong> Snowdon Wildlife Sanctuary is located 7 mi from the town of McCall, Idaho, on 35 isolated acres of pristine mountain land. Snowdon Wildlife Sanctuary is \u201coff the grid\u201d. There is no electricity; a generator is on site for limited use for animal care<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dates:<\/strong> August 10th, 2026 \u2013 November 30th, 2026 <em>*tentative dates*<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wages:<\/strong> $500\/monthly stipend + On-site housing offered in exchange for 5 days\/week work<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amenities: <\/strong>Two-story cabin: 2 bedroom 1 bath: intern has own bedroom with queen bunk beds. Bedroom may be shared with other summer intern for a few weeks depending on start date. Propane heat, running hot water, stove\/oven, propane fridge\/freezer, fully furnished, WiFi. On the job training with unlimited recreation opportunities out the back door!&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong> An interest in wildlife rehabilitation with course work in wildlife biology, ornithology, mammalogy, pre-vet or similar preferred; Some experience working with wild or domestic animals in a supervised animal care setting (zoo, rehabilitation, veterinary, biological research, etc.) is strongly preferred; <strong>Must be able to work in independently and in all weather conditions<\/strong>; Ability to interact and communicate with the public on distress calls and educational programs; Have a valid driver\u2019s license; Must be at least 20 years of age; Must have own vehicle for personal use (AWD or 4WD); Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs; Must have current tetanus shot&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"job-frame__how-to-apply test_job_how_to_apply\"><br>\n<div id=\"how-to-apply-content-276915\" class=\"job-frame__how-to-apply__content\">\n<p><strong>To Apply<\/strong>: Submit (1) Resume, (2) Cover letter and (3) Contact info for 3 references.
