The selected intern can expect to assist in the following duties:<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Participate in river patrols by oar raft alongside experienced river rangers.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Perform facility maintenance at developed recreation sites including cleaning vault toilets, cleaning campsite fire pits, collecting trash and fixing structures such as signs, kiosks and picnic tables.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Participate in trail maintenance days and outreach events with partner organizations and the local community.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Installs and maintains various types of signage on public lands including informational signs at developed campsites, trailheads, and on trails.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Collect visitor use surveys using a tablet and the Survey123 program.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Collect visitor use data by installing and operating traffic counters at developed recreation sites.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Assist in the monitoring of Special Recreation Permits by submitting visitor use surveys at developed recreation sites and dispersed BLM lands.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Greet visitors and provide information and education about use of public lands.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Monitor road\/trail conditions and perform trail maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Inspects facilities ensuring compliance with rules and regulations pertaining to parking, campfires, sanitation, and safety; bringing problems or violations to the attention of visitors and\/or reports potential violations to Recreation Planners.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Opportunities may be available for interns to shadow other BLM programs of interest. Service will be completed in remote areas on BLM lands. Interns will be required to drive long distances, often on rough roads, in the field office. Interns can expect to serve a four-day week, ten hours per day.
