Do you care deeply\u00a0for\u00a0the land and communities of North Central Washington? Okanogan Land Trust is inviting applications for the position of Conservation\u00a0Coordinator.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>About OLT:\u00a0Established\u00a0initially as an all-volunteer organization in 2002, OLT currently holds\u00a036\u00a0conservation easements on more than 18,500 acres (with more in process) and\u00a0serves eastern Okanogan County and western Ferry County in North Central Washington. OLT became an accredited land trust in 2022.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position Description:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Conservation\u00a0Coordinator\u00a0is responsible for\u00a0advancing OLT\u2019s land protection\u00a0program\u00a0and stewardship\u00a0of 36\u00a0protected properties spanning over\u00a018,500 acres. The position will\u00a0coordinate\u00a0development and stewardship of conservation easement projects, landowner communication, and\u00a0outreach to conservation partners and the community,\u00a0with\u00a0additional\u00a0responsibilities in conservation planning and GIS mapping. Successful applicants will have strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as a background in\u00a0conservation or\u00a0natural resource management. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working with\u00a0a diverse base of landowners and community members to accomplish OLT\u2019s mission of land\u00a0conservancy and\u00a0will appreciate a job\u00a0with lots of variety and on-the-ground conservation work.\u00a0Ability\u00a0to\u00a0traverse landscapes with\u00a0steep and uneven terrain\u00a0is\u00a0required, along with a valid driver\u2019s license. Familiarity with and appreciation for rural lifestyles and Central\u00a0Washington\u00a0a plus.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Benefits include a $5,400 annual healthcare stipend; Simple IRA with up to 3% employer match; flexible schedule;\u00a0and generous leave and holidays.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The position reports to the Executive Director.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Desired Qualifications<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong interpersonal skills,\u00a0including fielding project inquiries, project development,\u00a0and\u00a0partnership building with a variety of stakeholders\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Excellent presentation skills, including presentations to boards, participation in working groups, conferences, and local government\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge of GIS, data management, grant writing and coordination, and effective report writing\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Ambition to follow project inquiries and expand existing programs.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Undergraduate or graduate degree in a natural resource related field and\/or 3-5 years of experience in land trusts, conservation, or related work.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Duties &amp; Responsibilities<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<strong>Conservation Project Management \u2013 50%<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In coordination with the Executive Director, assess, plan, and execute conservation easement projects (including easement development, due diligence, legal review, and closing) to\u00a0accomplish\u00a0land protection goals and strategies.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Gather information on potential projects, including ecology and habitat characteristics, soils and other agricultural data, and water resources.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Schedule meetings and coordinate with interested landowners, partners, and funders.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Participate in preparing applications for conservation project funding.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Maintain\u00a0complete project files documenting all projects to national standards.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Land Protection Program Development &amp; Management \u2013 20%<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop,\u00a0maintain, and manage OLT\u2019s\u00a0conservation\u00a0database to\u00a0facilitate\u00a0conservation planning, land protection, and stewardship efforts.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Assist\u00a0with grant writing efforts to support conservation work (conservation planning, land conservation, and stewardship).\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with other organizations to explore new opportunities for land conservation in the region to achieve OLT\u2019s conservation goals.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Stewardship Program Development &amp; Management \u2013\u00a020%<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coordinate OLT\u2019s stewardship efforts, including annual monitoring and land management and enforcement efforts on OLT\u2019s existing easements\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Gather information, produce\u00a0maps\u00a0and write baseline conditions reports for easement projects.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Recruit and supervise stewardship contractors and volunteers as needed.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<strong>Outreach and Partnership Building &#8211; 10%<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in and cultivate regional conservation partnerships.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Participate in and support fundraising, education, and outreach events.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Lead a regional habitat working group to support our conservation community\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Working Conditions:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>OLT\u2019s staff are currently in our Okanogan office two days per week and otherwise work remotely. Staff travel regularly around the service area, primarily in spring and summer.
