assist in maintaining hatchery equipment and facilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>What to Expect-<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the\u00a0Fish Hatchery Technician will,\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conduct Fish Culture:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Feed fish according to pond populations and weight samples, adjusting feed size and amount fed as directed.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in identifying, sorting, and sampling species for spawning and adult distribution.<\/li>\n<li>Clean ponds and raceways, troughs, and incubator systems to maintain fish health.<\/li>\n<li>Vacuum ponds and raceways to maintain fish health.<\/li>\n<li>Identify marked adults and collect tags\/marks for biological sampling.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in inventorying and grading fish populations, marking trailer inventories, weight samples and plants.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Pick eggs loss by hand or using equipment and incubates for facility programs or shipments.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in identifying all targeted and non-targeted species, gender, stock origin and condition of maturity when trapping and spawning adults<\/li>\n<li>Monitor rearing units for signs of predation and ensure rearing areas are secure.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Assist in scanning fish for various tags using coded wire tag (CWT) wands, passive integrated transponder (PIT) tag detectors, and other tag associated equipment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Operation and Maintenance of Facility and Equipment:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain proper water flow and rearing environments.<\/li>\n<li>Actively identify safety hazards and acts or recommends remedies.<\/li>\n<li>Perform maintenance duties in and around hatchery and residences to preserve a clean and safe working environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Working Conditions:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Work setting, including hazards:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Typically working outside and may involve work in inclement weather conditions.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>At times, this position will be required to repetitively lift at least 50lbs (fish food bags).\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Use respirator and other personal protective equipment (PPE) while working with various chemicals used at the facility.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>This position may involve working in or near water, including tasks that require navigating, negotiating, and performing duties related to water environments.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Schedule:\u00a0<\/strong>Typically Monday \u2013 Friday, 7:00 A.M. \u2013 3:30 P.M., working 40 hours per week. \u00a0Schedule may vary based on business needs, time of year, and\/or weather conditions including the occasional evening or weekend work as needed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Travel Requirements:<\/strong> Travel as needed to meet work demands (E.g. \u2013 day trips for planting fish).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tools and Equipment:\u00a0<\/strong>Power and hand tools, lawn care equipment, egg picking machines, passenger vehicles, coded wire tag (CWT) identification equipment, trash pumps, pressure washers, diesel generators, small gas engine and computers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Customer Interactions:\u00a0<\/strong>Interact professionally with anglers, DFW staff including district biologists and fish health staff, US Fish and Wildlife (USFWS), tribal partners, and other federal, county, state entities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Required
