River system!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We are seeking candidates to\u00a0<\/strong><strong>conduct fish population surveys and fish stocking for Lake Chelan and tributaries.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>WHAT TO EXPECT &#8211;<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, this position will:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conduct creel surveys on lakes and streams to gather information on angler usage and harvest.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Working extensively with the public to collect information on fisheries. \u00a0 Includes use of roving creel surveys, total and\/or index counts, and interviewing individual anglers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Sampling fish metrics.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Identifying fish species, taking various measurements, checking for marks and tags (fin clips, floy and\/or pit tags), collecting snouts for analysis, taking scales and\/or otoliths for age studies, and occasionally capturing fish by hook and line.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Conduct fish abundance surveys in small tributary waters.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Setting and maintaining block netting, collecting environmental data to include stream section length, average stream width and water temperature. \u00a0 Collecting fish biological data and samples to include scales, tissue samples, length, weight, and species determination.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Working Conditions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Work setting:<\/strong> Work settings may include recreational fishing docks, lake and river shorelines, public water access sites, and office environments. Work may be conducted during inclement weather. Assigned work will be conducted at public water access sites, boat ramps and docks and at times during severe inclement weather, and on slippery\/uneven\/steep\/moving docks, boat ramps and shorelines. \u00a0 Frequent and repetitive lifting of salmon up to 40 pounds unassisted over a 10-hour work shift and communicating in person with the angling public, is necessary to successfully perform all tasks. This position may involve working in or near water, including tasks that require navigating, negotiating, and performing duties related to water environments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schedule:<\/strong> Workload demands may require work outside the assigned work hours and adjustment of work schedules. Schedule variable, adjusted according to need, usually five days per week, 24\/7 schedule; weekend work required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Travel requirements:<\/strong> Relevant travel expectations.
