The <strong>Natural Areas Program Manager\u00a0<\/strong>will guide the Division Natural Areas Program by providing administrative support with the goal to protect and restore native ecosystems while hosting educational and research access and low-impact recreation in NRCAs. \u00a0The position provides innovative leadership and expertise to protect the ecological values of the state system of natural areas managed by the department, according to RCW 79.70 and RCW 79.71. The Program Manager manages program implementation of the statewide Natural Areas Program by developing and monitoring the budget, working cooperatively with agency managers and program employees to develop strategic direction, providing guidance for statewide program implementation, and coordinating with partner agencies, including the private sector, Tribes, and local, state, and federal agencies.\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>\n<h2>Duties<\/h2>\n<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide strategic direction for natural area management and acquisition actions.<\/li>\n<li>In coordination with the Natural Areas Lead Scientist, provides direction for the program&#8217;s monitoring and assessment activities<\/li>\n<li>Works with federal, state, and local agency partners and NGOs to coordinate and identify collaborative conservation opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Program Management and Administration.<\/li>\n<li>Fiscal responsibilities.<\/li>\n<li>Strategic development and outreach, including participating in meetings with the Natural Heritage Advisory Council.<\/li>\n<li>Directly supervising 2 FTE, who supervise a team of 4 FTE.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>\n<h2>Qualifications<\/h2>\n<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree or an equivalent combination of education and\/or experience.<\/li>\n<li>Three (3) years of experience managing a land and resources conservation program within the previous five (5) years.<\/li>\n<li>Two (2) years\u2019 experience managing partner relationships that operate exclusively in conservation, recreation, or both during the previous five (5) years. The building environment consists of a cubicle workstation with a computer in an open area.<\/li>\n<li>10-15%, including overnight travel for site visits, public meetings, or other programmatic needs.<\/li>\n<li>A current, valid driver\u2019s license and two years of driving experience. Additionally, DNR requires state drivers to possess a license that is not suspended, revoked, or restricted (for example, Occupational\/Restricted Driver Licenses or requiring ignition interlock devices). This position requires driving as an essential function.
