Summer Associates are entitled to 3 service days of leave (plus 2 emergency leave days which would need to be made up by serving extra hours prior to end of service) in addition to receiving all holidays as observed by HCSEG. All leave must be approved by a supervisor.<b><br \/><\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e655c76 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e655c76\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<p><b>Position Duties: <\/b>Environmental Education Fellows will assist with Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group\u2019s youth education programs focused on watershed health, salmon recovery, sustainable agriculture, and ecosystem stewardship. HCSEG\u2019s summer programs, including Explore the Fjord and Farm Stewards, are offered on a sliding scale and serve students from low-income, rural communities and attending Title I schools. The goal of these programs is to open students\u2019 eyes to future careers in the environmental field with family-sustaining salaries and to prepare the next generation of stewards for the environmental questions they will one day inherit. Fellows will coordinate and educate students in the field and support program outreach. Fellows will lead public interpretation of HCSEG sites to encourage community support for HCSEG programs. Opportunities to assist with other HCSEG programs will be provided with the goal that fellows translate their experiences into hands-on learning opportunities for youth.<b><br \/><\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f702bd2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f702bd2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<p><b>Typical Duties:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Follow established safety and field operations policy and procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with youth education programs on watershed health, salmon recovery,<\/li>\n<li>sustainable agriculture, and ecosystem stewardship.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate and educate students during field-based learning experiences.<\/li>\n<li>Lead public interpretation of HCSEG sites to engage and educate the community.<\/li>\n<li>Support program outreach and help promote HCSEG summer programs.<\/li>\n<li>Translate hands-on environmental experiences into educational opportunities for youth.<\/li>\n<li>Attend community and outreach events\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Occasional opportunities to assist the farm, U-Pick gardens, and restoration efforts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e37f602 elementor-widget class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<p><b>Preferred Qualifications:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Student in environmental science, forestry, or ecology programs.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to traverse through dense vegetation, uneven terrain, and steep slopes, often<br \/>completely off trail, during summer temperatures.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with Pacific Northwest native species and common invasive species.<\/li>\n<li>Strong self-motivated individual, capable of meeting established expectations, and<br \/>managing time and effort to complete tasks.<\/li>\n<li>Local to Kitsap, Mason, or Pierce counties and able to serve in person every day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-278ad64 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\"
