There will be four projects selected to present and students will be notified of their acceptance on <strong>Thursday, April 23, 2026<\/strong>. Please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/wagisa.org\/resources\/Documents\/DTA\/Guidelines%20and%20FAQs%20-%202026.pdf\">Guidelines and FAQs<\/a> document for more details.<br \/><br \/>The annual Richard \u2018Dick\u2019 Thomas Memorial Student Presentation Competition and Award (the DTA)\u00a0will be held in-person on <strong>Thursday, May 21, at the Bellevue Meydenbauer Center<\/strong>.<br \/><br \/><strong><u>More about the DTA Student Competition:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">This award was established in 2006 to honor Washington State GIS pioneer and mentor Richard \u201cDick\u201d Thomas. The intent is to continue Dick\u2019s work of encouraging students to excel in their studies and transition successfully into careers in the field of GIS. The objective of the Washington Geographic Information Systems Association (WAGISA) is to inspire students to present their original work related to GIS, geography, or geospatial research.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>The DTA will be an in-person competition this year.
