We share knowledge, build skills, craft practical solutions, and cultivate networks through workshops and convenings, an online resource hub, and multimedia communications. We are known for providing trusted, human-centered technical assistance in agriculture and energy.\u00a0<\/p>\nThe National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) is seeking four (4) full-time Technical<\/strong> Assistance Providers\u00a0<\/strong>who will be on the implementation team of a multi-year project focused on wool producers in Colorado, Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming to strengthen their market access. Technical Assistance Providers work directly with targeted wool producers with resources for improving wool quality, soil health, drought resiliency, and market access improvement.<\/p>\nThis position is tied to a grant-funded project that is scheduled to conclude March 2028. Employment is contingent upon the continuation of project funding.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This is a remote position. Employees must be based in the following states: Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming. Relocation support is not provided.<\/strong><\/p>\nQUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong> This position requires a BA\/BS degree in agriculture, animal science, natural resource management, conservation, or related fields. Experience in building soil health through regenerative ranching and farming; and demonstrated competence\/certification in whole farm planning, such as NRCS conservation planner certification.<\/p>\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n- Commitment\u00a0and passion for the NCAT mission.<\/li>\n
- Strong\u00a0knowledge of animal agriculture in the West and\u00a0familiarity with ag-related organizations and government agencies.<\/li>\n
- Understanding or willingness to learn about the sheep and wool industry.\u00a0<\/li>\n
- Experience working for or with the NRCS.<\/li>\n
- Experience\u00a0in\u00a0providing\u00a0technical\u00a0assistance\u00a0for\u00a0conservation\u00a0agriculture\u00a0practices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- Experience working\u00a0with\u00a0land\u00a0managers\u00a0and\u00a0agricultural\u00a0producers\u00a0in\u00a0conservation planning, soil health planning, and implementation.<\/li>\n
- Competence in GIS mapping, data management, and using software such as the Web Soil Survey and the Rangeland Analysis Platform.<\/li>\n
- Competent\u00a0with\u00a0Microsoft\u00a0Office\u00a0and\u00a0Google\u00a0Suite.<\/li>\n
- Demonstrated\u00a0knowledge of western ecology,\u00a0plants,\u00a0wildlife,\u00a0soils,\u00a0and\u00a0climate.<\/li>\n
- Excellent\u00a0attention\u00a0to\u00a0detail and\u00a0demonstrated\u00a0verbal\u00a0and\u00a0written\u00a0communication\u00a0skills.<\/li>\n
- Exceptional ability\u00a0to communicate and\u00a0build\u00a0relationships with\u00a0farmers,\u00a0ranchers, community organizations,\u00a0government agencies, partners, private contractors, and the general public.<\/li>\n

- Ability to conduct on-farm fieldwork in challenging terrain, weather, and\u00a0climate conditions while carrying up to 30 pounds.<\/li>\n
- Willingness and ability to travel around the region. Travel may involve flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends. Some overnight travel will be required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Responsibilities<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n- Promote and\u00a0support\u00a0NCAT’s\u00a0mission.<\/li>\n
- Enroll woolgrowers in the program and ensure producer eligibility by gathering necessary documents.\u00a0<\/li>\n
- Assist woolgrowers to implement conservation practices, best practices to improve wool quality, and increase market access opportunities.<\/li>\n
- Complete NRCS Environmental Evaluations in accordance with NRCS standards.<\/li>\n
- Provide\u00a0regionally\u00a0appropriate technical\u00a0assistance to\u00a0woolgrowers via\u00a0in-person\u00a0site\u00a0visits,\u00a0phone,\u00a0and email.<\/li>\n
- Monitor conservation practice implementation, monitoring, and measure and report on necessary information to the USDA.\u00a0<\/li>\n
- Collect\u00a0data\u00a0and\u00a0contribute\u00a0to\u00a0quarterly\u00a0project\u00a0reports\u00a0towards\u00a0benchmarks\u00a0and\u00a0goals.<\/li>\n
- Work closely with producers to gather necessary documentation and administer incentive funds, such as but not limited to the Wool Quality Improvement Fund and Market Innovation Fund.<\/li>\n
- Present\u00a0at\u00a0conferences,\u00a0producer\u00a0association meetings,\u00a0stakeholder meetings,\u00a0and\u00a0other\u00a0appropriate forums.<\/li>\n
- Administer program details to project participants and\u00a0maintain their confidential records and information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- Develop and maintain positive, productive, professional relationships with producers, partner organizations, agencies, research institutions, and Tribes as part of program delivery.<\/li>\n
- Create outreach and promotional materials, such as press releases, blog posts, and podcasts.<\/li>\n
- Cultivate positive, inclusive, and productive relationships internally with teammates, working collaboratively within the NCAT team and across NCAT as a whole. Teamwork is an essential function of this job.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
SALARY AND BENEFITS:<\/strong> This position offers a salary range of $63,000 to $67,000 based on experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive benefits package.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/em>NCAT is an equal opportunity employer.
