These positions are located at our Mud Lake WMA, Market Lake WMA, Sand Creek WMA, Deer Parks WMU and Tex Creek WMA located in Terreton, Roberts, St. Anthony, Menan or Ririe, ID. These are temporary positions and are expected to work up to 40 hours per week. Housing is available for the employee only. Some positions may travel to remote locations for data collection and maintenance activities and may require the physical ability to walk and backpack for several hours; operate four-wheel drive and\/or off-road vehicles, in rugged terrain; lift and carry up to 65 pounds; and work in extreme weather conditions. Incumbents working on habitat projects may be working with herbicides and pesticides. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Completing habitat treatments.<br \/>\u2022 Monitoring habitat treatments.<br \/>\u2022 Noxious weed control.<br \/>\u2022 Conducting surveys on a variety of wildlife species.<br \/>\u2022 Monitoring and facilitating public use of WMA property.<br \/>\u2022 Waterfowl surveys, trapping and banding.<br \/>\u2022 Light construction and equipment maintenance.<br \/>\u2022 Maintaining fences, roads and levees, buildings and grounds.<br \/>\u2022 Other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Some knowledge of wildlife ecology and habitat requirements; and wildlife habitat<br \/>\u00a0evaluation and management practices.<br \/>\u2022 Experience recording, summarizing, and analyzing biological data.<br \/>\u2022 Valid driver\u2019s license.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the minimum qualifications the ideal candidate has a strong basis in knowledge of wildlife species and their habitats usually acquired through work experience or college coursework. The ideal candidate will have ability to identify wildlife and plant species and follow instructions to complete assignments with limited direct supervision. Ability and experience in operating and performing minor maintenance and upkeep on equipment to include tractors, four-wheel drive trucks, off-road vehicles, and\/or motorized boats and using small hand and power tools would add to the ideal candidate. Additional consideration may be given at the time of the interview to candidates who have this experience.
