Learning at the Refuge<\/em><br \/><em>takes place inside classrooms and outdoors on the trail, in all weather conditions. Visiting<\/em><br \/><em>school groups at the Refuge learn about wildlife ecology, freshwater monitoring, data<\/em><br \/><em>collection &amp; experimental design, bird identification, and much more.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Who are we looking for?<\/strong> A potential applicant should be interested in science<br \/>communication, working for and representing public lands, education, or science in<br \/>general. Our trails are ADA accessible, and interns should be comfortable walking or<br \/>traversing up to 4 miles in a day. <em>No experience is required<\/em>, but a desire or ability to<br \/>work with children is a <strong>must.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Participation in the 3-day Shorebird and Nature Festival in Aberdeen, WA from May<br \/>1st &#8211; May 3rd is <strong>required.<\/strong> Accommodations and food reimbursement will be<br \/>provided.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the time commitment?<\/strong> This internship is from April 1st &#8211; June 15th. A weekly<br \/>hour requirement of 8-15 hours is expected for each intern.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is this internship paid?<\/strong> Unfortunately no, this is an unpaid internship position. We do<br \/>provide a per diem stipend (up to about $200) for interns that complete all three<br \/>days of the Shorebird &amp; Nature Festival (May 1st &#8211; May 3rd).
