Applicants are encouraged to apply and submit their applications as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking three to four (3-4) Biological Aides for statewide research under the Wild Trout Evaluations, Hatchery Trout Evaluations, and Lakes and Reservoirs Research projects. These positions will be located at our Nampa Research Office located in Nampa, Idaho. These are each\u00a0 non-benefited temporary positions expected to work up to 40-50 hours per week from mid-May through August (employment start and end dates are flexible). Housing is limited and not guaranteed but may available for the employee only. These positions require the physical ability to walk and backpack for several hours over rugged terrain and along water ways; stand and work in cold water for up to eight hours per shift; hitch and pull trailers; lift and carry up to 60+ pounds with occasional lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds for short distances; and work in extreme weather conditions. Operate motorized equipment including ATVs, boats, and\/or UTVs. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required. Frequent overnight in-state travel is required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Assist with electrofishing surveys in streams, rivers, and lakes (day and nighttime)<br \/>\u2022 Hike long distances (&gt;9 miles) in rough terrain<br \/>\u2022 Work and camp in remote locations under adverse weather conditions<br \/>\u2022 Operate, transport, and trailer outboard\/jet motorboats<br \/>\u2022 Assist with gillnetting and water quality surveys of alpine\/lowland lakes<br \/>\u2022 Stock fish and collect biological samples<br \/>\u2022 Assist with equipment maintenance and repair<br \/>\u2022 Collect and record data<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 High school diploma or equivalent<br \/>\u2022 Must be at least 18 years old<br \/>\u2022 Possess a valid driver\u2019s license<br \/>\u2022 Experience following oral and written instructions, policies, and procedures<br \/>\u2022 Some knowledge of biology, zoology, botany, conservation biology or closely related field<br \/>\u2022 Some knowledge of life history, anatomy, and ecology of various fish and wildlife species<br \/><br \/>In addition to the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will currently be enrolled in a fisheries, biology, or related science program or equivalent in training and work experience; have experience recording scientific data, operating ATVs, outboard motorboats, and trailering; good handwriting skills and attention to detail, the ability to work well independently and within a team environment, and a desire to learn. Additional consideration may be given at the time of the interview to candidates who have this experience.
