Technicians will work under the supervision of a Crew Lead and researchers from the Bisbing Lab to collect field data across multiple integrated research projects in mixed-conifer forests of the Sierra Nevada in California.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Description<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Research Technicians will assist with forest inventory and sampling as well as long-term regeneration provenance trials (i.e., baby tree gardens). Responsibilities include installing and re-surveying permanent plots; collecting pre- and post-treatment data on overstory trees, regeneration, fuels, plant communities, and forest health; measuring seedling survival and growth; maintaining planting sites through weeding or grubbing; downloading weather station and temperature logger data; assisting with mapping forest composition; maintaining field equipment and tools; and entering, quality-checking, and uploading data. This position requires attention to detail, strong work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a field team. Fieldwork involves <strong>long hikes with heavy packs<\/strong>, work in burned areas and <strong>challenging terrain<\/strong>, and <strong>variable weather conditions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Location &amp; Logistics<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These positions are<strong> located in California<\/strong> with work conducted across multiple Sierra Nevada sites. Crew members are expected to <strong>live on-site and travel between locations for the duration of the position<\/strong>. Housing will primarily consist of non-traditional accommodations such as tents or trailers. No per diem or food stipend is provided. A field vehicle with coolers, stove\/propane, table, and basic kitchenware is supplied.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>When<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These are<strong> full-time, temporary positions starting June 1, 2026<\/strong>.
