Hybrid work possible, with a minimum of 50% in-office presence.<br \/><strong>Compensation:<\/strong> $63,000\u2013$68,000 annually, DOE. Health insurance, vision, dental, retirement,<br \/>vacation, and other benefits included.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>BACKGROUND<\/strong><br \/>Wallowa Land Trust (WLT) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Enterprise, Oregon.<br \/>Founded in 2004, our mission is to protect the rural nature of Wallowa Country by working<br \/>cooperatively with private landowners, Indigenous people, local communities, and governmental<br \/>entities to conserve land.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>POSITION DESCRIPTION<\/strong><br \/>Wallowa Land Trust is seeking a values-driven, strategic Development Director to lead and<br \/>strengthen the organization\u2019s philanthropy program. This role is responsible for building and<br \/>managing the systems, strategies, and structures that support sustainable fundraising for a place-<br \/>based conservation nonprofit.<\/p>\n<p>The Development Director works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and staff<br \/>to align fundraising strategy with organizational priorities and to foster a strong culture of<br \/>philanthropy across the organization. As a new position, the Development Director will have a<br \/>unique opportunity to design and implement fundraising infrastructure that supports long-term<br \/>organizational resilience and continuity.<\/p>\n<p>Importantly, this role is designed to support the Executive Director as WLT\u2019s primary external<br \/>fundraiser and relationship-builder. While the Development Director will steward some donor<br \/>relationships directly, the emphasis of the position is on preparation, coordination, systems<br \/>development, and follow-through\u2014ensuring that fundraising efforts are organized, intentional,<br \/>and successful regardless of staff transitions.<\/p>\n<p>This position focuses primarily on donor growth and retention, including major gifts and planned<br \/>giving, while providing strategic oversight of foundation and agency grant fundraising in<br \/>collaboration with a long-term external grant writer. The Development Director also helps give<br \/>voice to the work of the Land Trust within the community through thoughtful storytelling and<br \/>donor engagement strategies.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><br \/><strong>Organizational Leadership &amp; Strategy<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 Serve on WLT\u2019s Leadership Team, contributing to organizational strategy and aligning<br \/>conservation, fundraising, and operational goals<br \/>\u2022 Lead the development and implementation of annual and multi-year fundraising plans with<br \/>clear goals, deliverables, and metrics for success<br \/>\u2022 Design and maintain clear, documented fundraising systems, processes, and tools that<br \/>ensure continuity, transparency, and organizational resilience over time<br \/>\u2022 Develop and manage the fundraising and outreach budget in coordination with the<br \/>Executive Director<br \/>\u2022 Contribute to annual organizational planning, goal-setting, and budgeting processes<br \/><strong>Executive Director Fundraising Enablement<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 Build and manage donor pipelines, engagement strategies, and tracking systems that<br \/>support effective cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship by the Executive Director and<br \/>Board<br \/>\u2022 Prepare donor research, briefing materials, talking points, and solicitation strategies to<br \/>support Executive Director donor meetings<br \/>\u2022 Track donor engagement activity, follow-up actions, and next steps to ensure consistent<br \/>and timely stewardship<br \/>\u2022 Coordinate scheduling, materials, and internal alignment to maximize the effectiveness of<br \/>Executive Director donor interactions<br \/><strong>Board Engagement &amp; Culture of Philanthropy<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 Serve as lead staff liaison to the Board of Directors and Development Committee,<br \/>supporting board engagement in donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship<br \/>\u2022 Foster a strong culture of philanthropy across staff and board, building shared ownership<br \/>of fundraising success<br \/><strong>Donor Fundraising &amp; Coordination<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 Provide strategic oversight of foundation and agency grant fundraising in collaboration<br \/>with a long-term external grant writer, including proposal review, timeline management,<br \/>internal coordination, and funder stewardship<br \/>\u2022 Coordinate internally to ensure program staff and leadership provide timely information,<br \/>data, and reporting needed to support successful grant proposals and compliance<br \/><strong>Communications &amp; Campaigns<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 Provide strategic leadership for fundraising-related communications and outreach,<br \/>ensuring alignment between messaging, marketing materials, and fundraising goals<br \/>\u2022 Collaborate with staff and consultants to ensure communications effectively support<br \/>development strategies<br \/>\u2022 Contribute to planning and implementation of future organizational fundraising campaigns<br \/>and special initiatives<br \/>\u2022 Participate in regional, state, and national fundraising conversations related to broader<br \/>conservation initiatives and partnerships<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 Passion for the mission of Wallowa Land Trust and a commitment to community-based<br \/>conservation<br \/>\u2022 Demonstrated track record of fundraising success, particularly in support of major gift<br \/>cultivation and donor stewardship<br \/>\u2022 Strong strategic thinking and systems-building skills<br \/>\u2022 Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build trust through thoughtful listening,<br \/>integrity, and follow-through<br \/>\u2022 Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail<br \/>\u2022 Experience using relational donor databases (e.g., DonorPerfect or similar systems)<br \/>\u2022 Experience collaborating on effective fundraising communications and marketing for<br \/>nonprofits<br \/>\u2022 Proficiency with general office software<br \/>\u2022 Demonstrated commitment to promoting equity and inclusion in the workplace<br \/>\u2022 Cultural competence working with people of diverse races, ages, genders, abilities, and<br \/>economic backgrounds<br \/><strong>Also helpful, but not required:<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) credential<br \/>\u2022 Experience working for a land trust or conservation-focused organization<br \/>\u2022 Experience with inclusive and equitable fundraising practices, including community-<br \/>centered or movement-based approaches<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 This position is based in Wallowa Land Trust\u2019s office in Enterprise, Oregon, with a hybrid<br \/>schedule requiring at least 50% in-office presence<br \/>\u2022 Work requires minor physical exertion;
