They are responsible for teaching 4th\u00a0to 12th grade students about salmon, forest ecology, environmental stewardship, and more through classroom lessons, hands-on field trips, stewardship events, and internships. They also assist with volunteer events, helping community members improve habitat health for salmon and other wildlife by removing weeds or planting trees.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Teaching<\/strong> (approx. 80%)<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Facilitate programs that teach 4th\u00a0to 12th\u00a0grade students about salmon, forest ecosystems, environmental stewardship, green careers, human impacts on watershed health, and similar topics.\n<ul>\n<li>Spring and Fall: Teach the\u00a0Next Generation Stewards\u00a0and\u00a0Forests and Fins\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mtsgreenway.org\/get-involved\/education\/curricula\/\">curricula<\/a>\u00a0toclasses of approximately 20 to 30 students.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Summer: Co-lead or support high school internship programs, which could include\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mtsgreenway.org\/get-involved\/education\/yess\/riverview\/\">Youth Engaged in Sustainable Systems (YESS)<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mtsgreenway.org\/get-involved\/education\/clean-water-ambassadors-internship\/\">Clean Water Ambassadors<\/a>, and\/or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mtsgreenway.org\/get-involved\/education\/burien-green-teens\/\">Burien Green Teens.<\/a>\u00a0This involves working closely with staff from the Greenway Trust, school districts, and partner groups to plan, implement, and evaluate lessons and activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Manage safety for groups of approximately 25 to 30 students and 2 to 5 adult chaperones in outdoor settings, using sound judgment and applying appropriate risk management decisions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Program Documentation and Support<\/strong> (approx. 10%)<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assist with program documentation (i.e., enter participant waiver data into Salesforce, take and upload photos, document pre\/post assessment scores in Excel).<\/li>\n<li>Assist with updating or creating educational materials, including creating activities for high school student interns and providing feedback on Science Journals and worksheets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Field Program Events and Support<\/strong> (approx. 5%)<\/p>\n<p>There will likely be opportunities to support other Greenway field programs and events, which could include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Co-leading\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mtsgreenway.org\/get-involved\/volunteer\/\">volunteer restoration events<\/a>\u00a0at the Greenway Trust\u2019s native plant nursery and other sites in King County, occasionally on Saturdays.<\/li>\n<li>Leading interpretive events at Greenway project sites.<\/li>\n<li>Working alongside the Restoration and\/or Recreation teams.<\/li>\n<li>Performing outreach and tabling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Other<\/strong> (approx. 5%)<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cultivate an inclusive environment by maintaining respectful, supportive, and compassionate relationships with coworkers, students, teachers, and field trip chaperones.<\/li>\n<li>Perform other duties as situations require or as assigned by supervisor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"job-frame__how-to-apply test_job_how_to_apply\"><span class=\"job-frame__how-to-apply__button gtag4-how-to-apply-button\">How To Apply<\/span>\n<div id=\"how-to-apply-content-266564\" class=\"job-frame__how-to-apply__content\">\n<p>Send a cover letter and resume explaining your interest to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:apply@mtsgreenway.org\">apply@mtsgreenway.org<\/a>.
