We strongly recommend applying as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Senate Profile<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Washington State Legislature is a bicameral body comprised of the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Legislature meets annually in the Capitol Building in Olympia beginning on the second Monday in January. Regular legislative sessions take place January through March in even-numbered years and January through April in odd-numbered years. Special legislative sessions occur as needed.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position Profile<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Washington State Senate is hiring a Casework Coordinator to monitor and update the Senate Democratic Caucus (SDC) and Senate offices on issues impacting their districts and the state. The coordinator acts as a liaison to state agencies as well as federal, and local governments. This position serves the caucus, member offices, and constituents. This full-time and temporary position will begin on or about January 5, 2026 and will run through the scheduled end of the 2026 Legislative Session in the latter part of March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Typical Work:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collaborate with the Sr. Caucus Assistant to provide support to member offices.<\/li>\n<li>Inform the caucus of assigned issue areas by screening district sources and through communication with member offices<\/li>\n<li>Analyze constituent issues, research, and identify solutions for member offices<\/li>\n<li>Act as a liaison to local, state, federal officials, and other persons or groups to form effective relationships for the caucus<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate relevant workshops and seminars for staff<\/li>\n<li>Screen and refer cases, when appropriate, to other offices and agencies<\/li>\n<li>Prepare periodic reports on pending cases and district activities in assigned issue areas<\/li>\n<li>Update contact lists for agencies contacts and congressional delegations<\/li>\n<li>Continually screen active cases and act as liaison with constituents to ensure their cases are handled in a responsive and timely manner<\/li>\n<li>Assist with casework training for Session Aides and Interns working in democratic offices<\/li>\n<li>Maintain up-to-date files on all cases and categories of information of importance to the office<\/li>\n<li>Report casework status to member offices<\/li>\n<li>Assist the Sr. Caucus Assistant in various tasks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"styles--3vx-H\" aria-labelledby=\"job-requirements-title\" data-ui=\"job-requirements\">\n<h2 id=\"job-requirements-title\">Requirements<\/h2>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Knowledge of or willingness to learn about:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The legislative process, organization, and procedure<\/li>\n<li>Local, state, and federal agencies and departments<\/li>\n<li>Office policies, practices, and procedures<\/li>\n<li>Relevant issues in Washington State<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ability to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Effectively support the legislative offices<\/li>\n<li>Handle sensitive cases and respectfully communicate with constituents experiencing crisis<\/li>\n<li>Accept and work with performance-based feedback and guidance<\/li>\n<li>Develop and maintain cordial, effective working relationships with caucus staff, legislators, agency liaisons, interest group representatives and the public<\/li>\n<li>Listen, problem solve, and communicate with kindness and empathy, while respecting confidentiality<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Education &amp; Experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Previous legislative, executive branch, or state agency experience preferred<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Requirements <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This position works in-person in Olympia during the legislative session.<\/li>\n<li>The hours for this position are 8 am &#8211; 5 pm, Monday through Friday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"styles--3vx-H\" aria-labelledby=\"job-benefits-title\" data-ui=\"job-benefits\">\n<h2 id=\"job-benefits-title\">Benefits<\/h2>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Compensation: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Salary is $4,299 per month.
