motors, vehicles, alarms, generators, flashlights)<\/li>\n<li>Identifies and communicates ways to improve the physical plant operation.<\/li>\n<li>Actively identifies safety hazards and takes action or recommends remedies as appropriate.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Ensures timely repairs to facility and infrastructure often requiring the ability to metal weld, cut and drill.<\/li>\n<li>Maintains the grounds in appearance and upkeep during seasonal events, requiring the ability to operate lawn mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, pressure washers, forklifts, tractors, generators, and carpentry power tools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Crew Leader at Wallace River Hatchery, Reiter Ponds, and Sunset Falls.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Carries out assignments as a working leader.<\/li>\n<li>Monitors projects\/activities to ensure completion in a timely manner.<\/li>\n<li>Ensures that the staff is productive and well informed on activities.<\/li>\n<li>The lead responsible for safety rule compliance, training, documentation and ensures hazards are addressed.<\/li>\n<li>Serves as a leader and role model for staff, temporary workers, and volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrates, instructs and trains others in methods on how to complete tasks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Communications.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keeps supervisor and management well-informed on production issues that may lead to fish health concerns or program shortfalls.<\/li>\n<li>Serves as a conduit for safety concerns (management to staff and staff to management)<\/li>\n<li>Represents the agency professionally and communicates effectively.<\/li>\n<li>Communicates with outside entities to implement agency-approved projects, as the facility subject matter expert.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Data Collection, Entry, Reporting, and Budgeting.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collects data required by the program, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.<\/li>\n<li>Maintains a facility filing system that is well organized and user-friendly.<\/li>\n<li>Ensures that staff are well informed on where and how to collect and record data.<\/li>\n<li>Leads others in accurately collecting and recording data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Working Conditions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Work setting:<\/strong>\u00a0 Outside in all weather conditions. Typically works outside about 250 days a year, and usually based on the remoteness of the facility, this position will be working alone about half the time. This employee will be required to work in all sorts of weather conditions whether it is raining, snowing, sunny, dark, cold or hot. \u00a0At times, will be required to repetitively lift at least 50 lbs. This position may involve working in or near water, including tasks that require navigating, negotiating, and performing duties related to water environments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schedule:<\/strong>\u00a0 Typically, 8:00 AM \u2013 5:00 PM, Monday \u2013 Friday. \u00a0Work hours can vary greatly at different times of the year depending on the work schedule and weather conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Housing:<\/strong>\u00a0 Housing is not available at this location.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Standby<\/strong>: This position may require standby, which involves overseeing the facility for the remaining 16 hours of the day when on duty. The standby schedule consists of working 10 consecutive days, including 7 days of standby duty, followed by 4 days off.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Travel requirements:<\/strong>Travel may be required for short periods of time to accomplish agency goals and required training. \u00a0This position will be assigned work at Sunset Falls Hatchery, Wallace River Hatchery, and Reiter Ponds Hatchery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Customer Interactions:<\/strong>This position will interact with the public, volunteers, small community groups, and individual constituents on a regular basis who visit the hatchery to answer questions and give tours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Option 1:<\/strong>\u00a0 One (1) year of experience as a Fish Hatchery Specialist 2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option 2:<\/strong>\u00a0 Associate\u2019s degree in fisheries technology or closely allied field\u00a0<strong>and\u00a0<\/strong>two (2) years of experience performing fish culture duties in a hatchery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option 3:<\/strong>\u00a0 Bachelor\u2019s degree in fisheries or closely allied field. \u00a0 Please note: Four (4) years of experience performing a variety of fish culture duties in a hatchery will substitute for the Bachelor\u2019s degree.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option 4:<\/strong>\u00a0 Successful completion of a fish culture program from a vocational school\u00a0<strong>and\u00a0<\/strong>two (2) years of experience performing fish culture duties in a hatchery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>License:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0Valid driver\u2019s license.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Special Requirements\/Conditions of Employment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This position may require a valid Washington State Pesticide Applicator\u2019s License.<\/p>\n<p>This position may require standby, which involves overseeing the facility for the remaining 16 hours of the day when on duty.
