Our mission is to protect, preserve, and enhance Yellowstone National Park through education and philanthropy. YF connects people to Yellowstone through outstanding visitor experiences and educational programs and translates those experiences into lifelong support of the park and philanthropic investment in its future. Our educational programming and products help people enhance their understanding and appreciation of the wildlife, natural wonders, and cultural history of the park. YF\u2019s operations include Park Stores in and around Yellowstone; the Yellowstone Forever Institute, which offers in-depth educational programing for people of all ages; and a supporter program which raises funds for priority park projects.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Seasonal Field\u00a0Educators\u00a0are part of a dedicated educational staff committed to connecting learners from across the world to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem through delivery of exceptional\u00a0education\u00a0experiences. They are knowledgeable about Yellowstone\u2019s natural, geologic, and cultural history and are experienced outdoor leaders who create a comfortable learning environment while keeping\u00a0learners safe on programs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Primary Responsibilities\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prepare and deliver engaging and organized programs to a diverse range of learners with the goal of connecting them to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and building a constituency for preservation<br \/>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate effective communication and teaching skills; adapt teaching methods to learners and situations and empower learners to form their own opinions about complex\u00a0issues\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Articulate the Yellowstone Forever mission and represent it accurately and positively; encourage participation in the organization through education and\u00a0philanthropy\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Develop and\u00a0maintain\u00a0a thorough understanding of Yellowstone National Park and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, to include (but not limited to) the natural, cultural, and geologic history, wildlife, and management\u00a0issues\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Understand and follow YF policies and procedures and National Park Service regulations by emphasizing the protection of park resources, Leave No Trace practices, and adherence to YF\u2019s Code of Ethics\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Operate YF vehicles, including 14-passenger minibuses and other vehicles, safely and defensively and follow\u00a0appropriate vehicle\u00a0safety checklists, to also include passing and\u00a0maintaining\u00a0successful YF driver\u00a0training\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Perform field-based risk management duties during programs by\u00a0anticipating\u00a0and managing potential hazards or group issues that might arise due to wildlife, terrain, weather, or student attitude\/ability\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Prepare students for the field through pre-course and daily\u00a0orientations\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment with all YF employees, contract instructors, volunteers, board members, and\u00a0partners\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Travel into Yellowstone, throughout the Greater Yellowstone area and others, as\u00a0required\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Other tasks as assigned by the\u00a0Institute Program Director, or other designated\u00a0leadership\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Basic Qualifications\u202f<br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong commitment to education and the mission of Yellowstone Forever\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Professional experience in teaching, environmental education, or interpretation\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated outdoor leadership\u00a0skills\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Exceptional customer service skills\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Team player with excellent communication and organizational skills\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of biology, ecology, geology, and natural and cultural history\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>A strong commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of our work\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Experience developing\u00a0and delivering\u00a0programs\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Current CPR and Wilderness First Aid certifications, or willingness to\u00a0attain\u00a0and maintain these\u00a0certifications\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>This position involves driving YF vehicles, therefore, applicants must be 21 years of age or older,\u00a0maintain\u00a0a valid US driver\u2019s license, and\u00a0maintain\u00a0a favorable driving record for insurance\u00a0purposes\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The ability to pass and\u00a0maintain\u00a0a Department of Transportation medical exam and YF driver\u00a0training\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>A satisfactory criminal background check is a condition of\u00a0employment\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and\u00a0holidays\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, hike up to 12 miles on uneven terrain, and work outdoors in all climate conditions common to the region while carrying a pack weighing up to 40\u00a0pounds\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Ability to\u00a0represent\u00a0YF in a courteous and professional\u00a0manner\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>A collaborative attitude with\u00a0demonstrated\u00a0ability to work effectively, and professionally as a part of a\u00a0team<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Preferred Qualifications\u202f\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Working knowledge of ecology, geology, and natural and cultural history of Yellowstone National Park and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Certification in NAI training programs including Certified Interpretive Guide, Certified Interpretive Host,\u00a0and\u00a0Leave No Trace\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Experience working in a non-profit\u00a0environment\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with both youth and adult learners\u00a0on multi-day\u00a0programs\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Wilderness medical training, Wilderness First Responder certification\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Program\u00a0Progression\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Yellowstone Forever offers a variety of programs that vary in complexity and length.
