Data collected will be throughout Washington. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Follow AIS mussel monitoring protocols to collect, review, record, and upload field data.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Identify and report potential AIS while working in the field conducting sampling methods listed above.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Interact with the public about the AIS work being conducted.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Tow watercraft in safe manner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Office work.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Follow protocols to review and accurately record AIS data into databases.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Organize, file, and summarize data.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Maintain and update schedule and calendars, complete time sheets, complete order payment form submissions and respond to emails in a timely manner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Equipment Maintenance.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintains vehicle, watercraft, trailer, electronic tablet, laptop, smart phone, environmental DNA backpack water filtration system and mobile water quality laboratory in a safe and working order.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Working Conditions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Work setting:<\/strong>\u00a0Approximately 90% field and 10% office. Work is conducted outdoors on water and land. Potential hazards include but are not limited to inclement weather, poor air quality, wildfires, strong waves, and currents. Incumbent works mostly as a team, but may work independently in remote locations, day and night, walk up to five miles on uneven ground, must be able to relocate 75 pounds, and pack 50 pounds. Chemical use must be in accordance with labels and handled in a safe manner. Must safely transport and operate large equipment up to a 20-foot cargo trailer, flatbed trailer, winches, motor vehicles, and complex hot water trailered pressure washers. Must be able to conduct euthanasia on animals. This position may involve working in or near water, including tasks that require navigating, negotiating, and performing duties related to water environments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schedule:<\/strong>\u00a0Monday \u2013 Thursday, 10-hour days. Will be required occasionally to exceed these hours. Incumbent may work outside of the normal workweek during holidays and weekends. May be required to respond on short notice to rapid response AIS emergencies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Travel requirements:<\/strong>\u00a0Weekly statewide travel and overnight stays up to five days at times.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Customer Interactions:<\/strong>\u00a0Interacts with the public on a regular basis while conducting fieldwork. Occasionally confronted by citizens that are non-compliant or not cooperative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Option 1:<\/strong>\u00a0 Graduation from high school or GED including one year of high school science,\u00a0<strong>and<\/strong>\u00a0two (2) years of experience as a Scientific Technician 1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option 2:<\/strong>\u00a0 Graduation from high school or GED including one year of high school science,\u00a0<strong>and<\/strong>\u00a0two (2) years of laboratory or field experience as an assistant to a biologist, chemist, or zoologist.<\/p>\n<p>Please note: \u00a0College course work involving major study in biology, zoology, fisheries, chemistry, natural sciences, or closely allied field will substitute year-for-year for experience, provided the course work includes at least 6 semester or 9 quarter hours of natural science classes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>License:<\/strong>\u00a0 Valid driver\u2019s license.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Special Requirements\/Conditions of Employment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>State Boater Education Card or equivalent.
