Join our team and turn your passion into a rewarding career!<\/p>\n<p><strong>This is an opportunity\u00a0<\/strong>to contribute to the coastal crab monitoring project and provide key data needed to evaluate recreational crab harvest.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>What to Expect-<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Crab Harvest Sampling Technician will,<\/p>\n<p><strong>Collect Field Data:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct effort surveys and crabber interviews at assigned boat ramps, WDFW access sites, public beaches, or on docks to collect effort and harvest estimates.<\/li>\n<li>Observe and count crabbers, empty boat trailers, vehicles, and\/or crab pots from land, docks, and\/or aboard vessels.<\/li>\n<li>Collect biological crab data including species, sex, shell hardness, length, and weight.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Record Data:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Record daily catch data using tablets or paper forms.<\/li>\n<li>Sync data to database at the end of each sampling day.<\/li>\n<li>Perform Quality Assurance\/Quality Control on their own data.<\/li>\n<li>Enter collected crab effort, harvest, and biological data using established methodologies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>Working Conditions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Work Setting, including hazards:<\/strong>Work outdoors (dockside, beaches, and shipboard) in all weather and sea conditions and in an office setting. Must fully and effectively complete assigned duties and tasks while at sea, especially during rough seas and inclement weather. Spend long periods of time standing, bending, and walking along boat ramps, docks, and slippery surfaces. Drive a 4&#215;4 pickup truck on beaches, navigating debris and washouts. Safely handle live crab to avoid being pinched. This position may involve working in or near water, including tasks that require navigating, negotiating, and performing duties related to water environments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schedule:<\/strong>Typically, 8-10 hours\/day, 40 hours\/week, Sunday\u2013Saturday, non-scheduled, 24\/7. Weekend, holidays, and occasional long hours. May require long and odd hours during peak crabbing times.
