General farm work tasks include but are not limited to<\/b>:\u00a0<\/span>
<\/span><\/p>\n\n- Measuring, mixing and spreading soil <\/span>amendments\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- Seed starting and planting crops\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- Irrigation system set up\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- Noxious weed management\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
In addition to farm work, interns will be expected to<\/b>:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n- Equipment\/tool use and maintenance<\/span><\/li>\n
- Tending plants and harvesting crops <\/span><\/li>\n
- Pest management\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- Large scale composting\u00a0<\/span>
<\/span><\/li>\n- Engage with GRuB\u2019s mission and learn about curriculum foundations\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- Collaborate and engage with community members and program participants on the farm\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Schedule:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n\n- 10-20 hrs per week during GRuB\u2019s operating hours (9am-5pm, Monday-Friday)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Qualifications:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n\n- Must be motivated to work hard, learn a lot, and get dirty, in all weather\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- Comfortable working independently and with groups\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- <\/b>Strong professionalism, communication skills, excellent work ethic, and reliability\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Physical demands, working conditions, and accommodations\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n\n- Interns work outdoors in conditions that can include varying temperatures and weather conditions <\/span><\/li>\n
- Other physical demands might include lifting up to 40 pounds, walking on uneven ground, using hand tools such as shovels, crouching\/bending repeatedly, or spending long periods on your feet <\/span><\/li>\n
