No experience is required.<\/p>\n<p>The course will cover the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Basics of welding<\/li>\n<li>Fiberglass repairs<\/li>\n<li>Vessel handling\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Navigation<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance of inboard and outboard engines<\/li>\n<li>Fishing gear repair (net mending and knot tying)<\/li>\n<li>Marine hydraulics<\/li>\n<li>Marine electronics<\/li>\n<li>Vessel cleaning and safe product handling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>When<\/b>:<br \/>Thursday, March 27\u2013Friday, March 28, 2025<\/p>\n<p>9 a.m. \u2013 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p><b>Where<\/b>:<br \/>Bendikson Landing<br \/>313 Robert Bush Drive<br \/>South Bend, WA<\/p>\n<p><b>Who<\/b>:\u00a0 Anyone ages 18 and up who is interested in gaining basic skills that may be required onboard a West Coast commercial fishing vessel.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b>Cost:\u00a0<\/b>$100.<br \/>Please contact Robert Maw at rmaw@uw.edu for scholarship information.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b>What to bring:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Working clothes, deck boots and rain jacket (we will be boarding a vessel and may have some outside sessions). Coffee, lunch, and all training materials and equipment will be provided.<\/p>\n<p><b>Space is limited to 24 participants.
