ELS is an environmental consulting firm serving the Pacific Northwest and Southeast Alaska. We specialize in land, water, and shoreline projects involving wetlands, streams, wildlife, habitat, and endangered, threatened, and sensitive species.<\/p>\n<p>We are seeking a full-time <strong>Entry Level Biologist\/CEO Assistant <\/strong>to support work in the diverse field of environmental consulting. This position is located at our <strong>Longview<\/strong>, <strong>Washington <\/strong>office with occasional travel to branch offices in Bremerton and Washougal. An <strong>ELS Entry Level Biologist\/CEO Assistant <\/strong>is responsible for supporting the CEO with a variety of natural resource projects, with a primary focus on environmental permitting, in-field environmental analysis (wetland delineations, stream and habitat reconnaissance), and project management. While technical skills are the foundation for this position, a successful candidate will have great interpersonal skills and the ability to develop technical skills to advance. The <strong>Entry Level Biologist\/CEO Assistant <\/strong>will be in the role of CEO Assistant for at least two years and then may transition to an Entry Level Biologist. Our office is centrally located in <strong>Longview, WA<\/strong>, with branch offices located in Bremerton, Washougal, Bellingham, and Sunnyside, WA.<\/li>\n<li>Work that is fast-paced and goal-<\/li>\n<li>A dynamic team that is supportive, friendly, and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h1>Who are we looking for?<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>You have excellent communication, organization, and technical writing<\/li>\n<li>You are proficient at handling challenging workloads and complex projects and can multi-<\/li>\n<li>You are efficient at independently coordinating with project team members, clients, and agency personnel (with direction and guidance from the CEO).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You are self-motivated and have an enthusiastic approach to<\/li>\n<li>You can work both independently, using self-managing skills, as well as participate and contribute within a dynamic teamwork setting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>\u00a0<\/h1>\n<h1>\u00a0<\/h1>\n<h1>CEO Assistant Responsibilities:<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>Assisting the CEO with fieldwork, mapping, and data collection<\/li>\n<li>Writing reports, memos, letters, and other documents<\/li>\n<li>Managing the CEO\u2019s work schedule and assisting in scheduling<\/li>\n<li>Tracking and\u00a0 responding\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 CEO\u2019s\u00a0 emails,\u00a0 providing\u00a0 frequent\u00a0 updates\/reminders\u00a0 regarding<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>appointments<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assisting in tracking time, expense entries, and budgeting<\/li>\n<li>Attending meetings with the CEO, preparing maps, and taking notes<\/li>\n<li>Driving the CEO to and from field visits and client meetings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>\u00a0<\/h1>\n<h1>\u00a0<\/h1>\n<h1>Entry Level Biologist Responsibilities:<\/h1>\n<h2>Office work may include:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Preparing reports and documents including but not limited to:\n<ul>\n<li>Critical areas\/delineation\/determination\/feasibility\/monitoring<\/li>\n<li>Data sheets<\/li>\n<li>Wetland rating forms<\/li>\n<li>Photoplates<\/li>\n<li>Budgets and cost proposals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Facilitating figure set development with drafting department<\/li>\n<li>Preparing and downloading GPS mapping information<\/li>\n<li>Researching agency databases and gathering relevant background information, maps, and site info, in preparation for fieldwork<\/li>\n<li>Reviewing local, state, and federal codes\/regulations applicable to project needs<\/li>\n<li>Communicating effectively with project manager, project team members, clients, and agencies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Field work may include:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Properly recording field data in notebook and on GPS device<\/li>\n<li>Identifying plants<\/li>\n<li>Delineating wetlands<\/li>\n<li>Delineating streams<\/li>\n<li>Surveying streams and wildlife<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring mitigation sites<\/li>\n<li>Attending agency field reviews<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>\u00a0<\/h1>\n<h1>\u00a0<\/h1>\n<h1>What knowledge, skills and experience would you bring to the ELS team?<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Science, Environmental Science, or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.<\/li>\n<li>1 or more years of experience desired in similar or related<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability and desire to learn technical and interpersonal skills to be successful in the environmental consulting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>\u00a0<\/h1>\n<h1>\u00a0<\/h1>\n<h1>What is it like to work at ELS?<\/h1>\n<p>In a recent survey, employees were asked, \u201cWhat do you like most about working at ELS\u201d?
