CDLT owns over 7,000 acres of eastside Cascade forest, riparian, and shrub\u00a0steppe habitat. These lands provide public access to over 40 miles of recreational trails. The Field Technician\u00a0works on CDLT-owned and managed properties under the supervision of Stewardship Director. The Field\u00a0Technician also works closely with the Land Manager, Trails Project Manager and GIS &amp; Data Manager to\u00a0support trail construction projects, site mapping efforts, and property monitoring. This position provides training in all the basics of Land Trust operations.<\/p>\n<p><br \/><strong>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><br \/>1. Invasive species control and monitoring \u2013 Monitoring and removal of invasive species on preserves and\u00a0CDLT-managed trails by mapping, mowing, manual removal and herbicide application.\u00a0<br \/>2. Habitat enhancement\/restoration and monitoring \u2013 Seeding, planting and watering native plants,\u00a0vegetation maintenance and mulching. Documenting restoration success with maps and photos.<br \/>3. Public Access operations and maintenance \u2013 Trail improvement and maintenance, sign and fence\u00a0repair and maintenance, and trash removal. Trailhead maintenance includes sign installation\/repair,\u00a0stocking trailhead supplies and maintain welcoming sites.<br \/>4. Interacting with the public \u2013 Serve as a trail ambassador by welcoming visitors, answering questions,\u00a0sharing information, and maintaining a friendly and approachable demeanor.<br \/>5. Data collection \u2013 Use ESRI GIS tools to collect information, do field mapping, and complete site\u00a0monitoring for accreditation compliance.<br \/>6. Conservation easement stewardship \u2013 Assist with conservation easement monitoring as assigned.<br \/>7. Work parties, outreach and education \u2013 Assist staff with hosting volunteer work parties, trail data\u00a0collection, and community engagement events.<br \/>8. Staff Communication \u2013 Regularly communicate with other staff in person, via phone, messaging, email and other CDLT applications to coordinate field tasks and priorities. Attend weekly staff meetings and field team meetings.<br \/>9. Physical Demands \u2013 The Field Technician\u2019s work is approximately 80% outside in a variety of forest,\u00a0stream and shrub steppe environments. The individual will use CDLT vehicles to travel to preserve\u00a0locations, most in Chelan and Douglas counties. Field work requires standing, walking, carrying a spray\u00a0backpack, hiking steep and uneven terrain, lifting up to 40 pounds, and using a variety of hand tools.\u00a0Vision and hearing in normal ranges are necessary.<br \/>10. Other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n<p><br \/><strong>DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><br \/>o Interest in helping to shape and improve public access opportunities and support habitat conservation\u00a0efforts in Chelan and Douglas counties.<br \/>o Plant identification experience and interest in learning the local flora and weed identification.<br \/>o Ability to obtain and use a WSDA pesticide applicator license; paid training provided on-the-job.<br \/>o Experience with trail, facility, and\/or landscape maintenance.<br \/>o Valid Washington Driver\u2019s license.<br \/>o Experience with map reading and GIS\/GPS systems.<br \/>o Flexibility to accommodate some evening and weekend work parties.<br \/>o Able to work independently with general direction; self-motivated.<br \/>o Passion for working in a collaborative team environment.<br \/>o Practical, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently with general direction.<br \/>o Comfort with the physical demands of the position.<br \/>o Ability to interact respectfully with staff, volunteers, trail users, landowners and contractors.<br \/>o Skill with communication, organization, and record keeping.<br \/>o A demonstrated commitment to land conservation.<\/p>\n<p><br \/><strong>EMPLOYMENT STATUS, SALARY AND BENEFITS\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>This is a seasonal, non-exempt position that will work 40 hours per week for 9 months from the start date\u00a0(approx. March 1 \u2013 November 30). The hourly pay is $20-24\/hour DOE with benefits such as sick leave,\u00a0vacation, paid holidays, medical, dental, and vision coverage.
