In an area with growing population and development pressures, Bainbridge Island is a place where wildlife habitat, freshwater streams, open spaces, and shorelines form a mosaic of ecological systems where natural diversity and people continue to thrive.<\/p>\n<p><br \/>For over three decades, the Bainbridge Island Land Trust has played a vital role in conserving areas of ecological significance. The Land Trust\u2019s work to protect and restore Bainbridge lands and waters is done to honor past generations, preserve a legacy for future generations, and build a network of protected lands resilient to a changing climate. The Bainbridge Island Land Trust is a non-profit organization commited to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion and finding opportunities for all employees, interns, and <br \/>volunteers to succeed.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Bainbridge Island Land Trust is seeking summer interns to support our mission to conserve and steward the diverse natural environments of Bainbridge Island for the benefit of all. This summer internship program is designed to provide interns with experience and skills in the field of conservation, restoration, and outreach, while also assisting the Bainbridge Island Land Trust in achieving its mission and goals. Interns will assist sta\ufb00 as they perform conservation, restoration, and outreach activities. This is a 10-week internship opportunity, consisting of approximately 30-hours a week for 2 \u00bd months.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Duties:<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 Assist Land Trust staff to accomplish a variety of land stewardship actions, including but not limited to habitat restoration, preserve maintenance, invasive weed removal, watering,<br \/>plantings, field research, and monitoring.<br \/>\u2022 Conduct field mapping of invasive species on Land Trust preserves using ArcGIS Field Maps.<br \/>\u2022 Conduct regular preserve maintenance including but not limited to trail maintenance, sign <br \/>maintenance, and brush clearing.<br \/>\u2022 Analyze, record, and categorize wildlife camera footage.<br \/>\u2022 Represent the Bainbridge Island Land Trust to visitors, supporters, and community members.<br \/>\u2022 Assist with event execution, development of materials, and engagement with community <br \/>members at Land Trust outreach and fundraising events.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong>:<br \/>\u2022 Must be a college student or recent college graduate.<br \/>\u2022 Must have access to transportation to and from the Bainbridge Island Land Trust office.<br \/>\u2022 Ability and enthusiasm for working outdoors in varying weather conditions, on uneven terrain, <br \/>and performing physically challenging tasks for the duration of the internship. <br \/>\u2022 Education, background, or interest in the following or related fields: field biology, ecology, <br \/>environmental studies, environmental science, geographical information systems (GIS), and\/or <br \/>natural resource management. <br \/>\u2022 Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and cooperatively with the public, supporters, <br \/>landowners, and volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Compensation\/Stipend: <\/strong><br \/>Interns will receive a $5,000 living stipend over the course of the internship.
