These programs rely on Community Program Interns to function. On\u00a0 Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, the SFS program requires 3-6 interns to fully lead field trips. The\u00a0 internship team will travel throughout Whatcom County to public and private properties to help 4th grade students discover if their local stream is a healthy habitat for salmon and assist county schools in releasing the salmon fry they have raised in their school aquarium.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><br \/>Saturday programming can require up to 10 interns to accommodate Community Work Party needs. Interns will rotate between roles at Work Parties, such as shuttle driving, leading small groups, and\u00a0 supporting educational components, and work collaboratively with everyone on the team. Work Parties are held throughout Whatcom County, where community volunteers join NSEA to plant native species or remove invasive species.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>NSEA\u2019s Future Leaders of Whatcom Waters (FLOW) is a paid internship program that focus on the aspects of NSEA\u2019s work- stream restoration, environmental education, and community outreach. The reciprocal nature of the FLOW Program allows people to gain valuable professional development &amp; real-world work experience while allowing NSEA to increase our capacity to accomplish more on-the-ground work and improve our programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Applications due by January 3, 2025. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.n-sea.org\/s\/2025-Spring-Community-Program-Intern-PD.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for the full position description and instructions to apply.<\/a><br \/>The Community Program Internship provides real-world experiences and professional development opportunities for the future leaders of the environmental and educational fields by supporting NSEA\u2019s Students for Salmon and Stream Stewards programming. Midweek, CP Interns lead fourth graders through field trip stations to learn about water quality, macroinvertebrates, and native plants.
