We strongly encourage proposals from minorities, women, and disadvantaged business enterprises.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>BACKGROUND\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>\u00a0The\u00a0Thurston\u00a0County\u00a0community\u00a0has\u00a0an\u00a0interest\u00a0in\u00a0keeping\u00a0pollution\u00a0out\u00a0of\u00a0stormwater\u00a0systems\u00a0and\u00a0surface\u00a0waters.\u00a0REEP\u00a0partners\u00a0manage\u00a0Stream\u00a0Team\u00a0which\u00a0is\u00a0cooperatively\u00a0sponsored\u00a0and\u00a0funded\u00a0by\u00a0the\u00a0Storm\u00a0and\u00a0Surface\u00a0Water\u00a0Utilities\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0Cities\u00a0of\u00a0Lacey,\u00a0Olympia,\u00a0and\u00a0Tumwater.\u00a0Stream\u00a0Team\u00a0provides\u00a0free,\u00a0quality,\u00a0environmental\u00a0education\u00a0programs,\u00a0volunteer\u00a0stewardship\u00a0activities\/workshops,\u00a0and\u00a0hands\u2010on\u00a0action\u00a0projects\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0South\u00a0Sound.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Stream Team actively engages the public through its programs to create a stewardship ethic and build sense of place among residents of Thurston County. REEP partners meet state and federal requirements for volunteer\u2010based stewardship, public education, and behavior change, by conducting outreach and engagement with diverse community groups and organizations, both rural and urban, including students, residents, tribes, and businesses, to reduce stormwater pollution. Environmental education and outreach campaigns and programs include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pet waste disposal<\/li>\n<li>Stream\u2010friendly car practices (fixing vehicle leaks, using commercial carwashes and properly inflating tires)<\/li>\n<li>Natural lawn and yard care<\/li>\n<li>Habitat stewardship<\/li>\n<li>Reporting spills<\/li>\n<li>Installing and maintaining private stormwater infrastructure (including rake a drain)<\/li>\n<li>Other actions that prevent or reduce polluted stormwater runoff\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Volunteer stewardship and docent activities\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Lectures and workshops\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Hands\u2010on community science activities\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For examples of REEP activities and samples of prior communication channels, go to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>www.streamteam.info<\/li>\n<li>https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ThurstonStream\/<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>PRELIMINARY SCOPE OF WORK<\/h2>\n<p>The successful consultant will promote the Stream Team\u00a0\u00a0brand and programs that raise awareness on how to protect and restore the water resources of Thurston County. REEP\u2019s goal is to ensure our outreach and communication strategies are inclusive, accessible, and representative of the entire community, and result in fair distribution of program benefits county\u2010wide. The consultant will promote the Stream Team brand and programs in a cohesive style, using platforms such as the Stream Team monthly email and Stream Team Newsletter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube to increase local awareness and public engagement with Stream Team programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>OBJECTIVES\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>The selected consultant will work with the City of Olympia and REEP to provide editorial services for quarterly editions of the Stream Team Newsletter,\u00a0\u00a0Stream Team website social media and monthly email management. This will include planning and executing publication schedules, coordinating with graphic designer(s) and content providers from multiple jurisdictions, and recommending complementary images or graphics for the newsletter covers and featured articles.
