This position:
The Washington Geological Survey, part of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), is seeking a\u00a0Reservoir Characterization Geologist\u00a0<\/strong>to join a talented team that conducts research on earth resources across Washington State, including carbon sequestration, geothermal resources, and groundwater hydrogeology. DNR\u2019s mission is to manage, sustain, and protect the health and productivity of Washington’s lands and waters to meet the needs of present and future generations. Your role in this mission will be to develop and lead projects that will identify, investigate, map, and report on potential subsurface reservoirs for carbon mineralization and clean energy storage.

Our trust in you:
This position serves as a subject matter expert on subsurface reservoir characterization, providing technical guidance in support of agency decision-making, liaising with partners, and advising on key policy concerns and issues regarding carbon sequestration, hydrogen storage, and similar or related technologies statewide. This position is responsible for independently conducting innovative research in assessing reservoir potential in various geologic settings and for various purposes, developing and managing grants and contracts to conduct research, publishing findings, and communicating opportunities and risks to industry partners and the public.
