Your interest in Congress, politics, and the federal policy-making process could be the key. We are in the midst of an extinction crisis. Scientists estimate we may lose over a million species in the next few decades. We need to act now!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a member of our dedicated team, you will not just be a bystander, but a crucial player in protecting endangered species and the special places they call home.\u00a0<br \/><br \/>The Policy\u00a0Intern\u00a0will work closely with the Endangered Species Coalition\u2019s (ESC) policy team to support ESC\u2019s campaigns. The\u00a0intern\u00a0will advocate for vital Endangered Species Act (ESA) policies, our greatest tool to protect endangered species and their habitats. Responsibilities will include policy research, taking notes on congressional hearings (virtual options available), tracking legislation, drafting fact sheets and member group updates, assisting with outreach to Congress, the Administration, and stakeholders, and helping to organize Capitol Hill events and lobby days.<\/p>\n<p>The ideal candidate will be enrolled in a bachelor\u2019s or graduate\u00a0 program or have an equivalent combination of education and experience, knowledge or interest in conservation, a strong interest in politics and the federal policy-making process,\u00a0 attention to detail, and research, writing, and communication skills. Experience in government or advocacy (either volunteer or paid) is plus. This internship is remote with an opportunity to attend hearings and do advocacy work on Capitol Hill if the intern is in the DC metro area. This is a paid\u00a0internship\u00a0with a start date of Fall2024.<\/p>\n<p>The Endangered Species Coalition\u2019s mission is to stop the human-caused extinction of our nation\u2019s at-risk species, to protect and restore their habitats, and to guide these fragile populations along the road to recovery. We work to safeguard and strengthen endangered species protections. We are a national network of conservation, scientific, education, religious, sporting, outdoor recreation, business, and community organizations\u2014and more than \u00bd million individual activists and supporters\u2014all dedicated to protecting our nation\u2019s disappearing wildlife and the last remaining wild places. We use grassroots mobilization, education, and targeted campaigns to enable every American to participate in actions that impact the democratic political process.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ESC values a diverse workforce and welcomes people different from each other in many ways, including characteristics such as race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, and national origin.
