You will also collaborate with regional biologists, local governments, tribes, and NGOs to secure funding and drive projects that protect our natural resources.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img class=\"fr-fic fr-dib\" src=\"https:\/\/secure.neogov.com\/images\/AgencyImages\/jobposting\/1924\/jobpostings\/image\/passage.png\" alt=\"Fish passage and excavator\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Fish passage restoration \u2013 Photo credit: Melissa Erkel<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Duties<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"container entity-details-content tab-content\">\n<div id=\"details-info\" class=\"tab-pane active fr-view\">\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<p><strong><em>Our Crew Supervisors Will,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Provide statewide fish passage barrier inventory and assessment technical assistance, to include barrier assessments, inventory project planning, implementation, and data management:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Conduct barrier inventories, assessments, and stream surveys to collect physical measurements and biological data to evaluate man-made barriers and stream reaches.<\/li>\n<li>Plans, directs, and evaluates biological studies associated with fish passage barrier inventory and prioritization surveys.<\/li>\n<li>Prioritizes, plans, coordinates, and implements all fieldwork assigned to the Inventory and Assessment Section requiring field crew FTEs\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Oversee and support activities associated with the Science team study looking at the long-term effectiveness of barrier corrections.<\/li>\n<li>Independently evaluate complex site-specific fish passage conditions (biological and physical)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Supervise staff:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Plan, assign, and review the work of field staff, adjusting assignments and schedules to respond to fluctuating workloads.<\/li>\n<li>Supervise and mentor field staff to support an effective and motivated team.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Train and evaluate work performance of technicians.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor and inspect work in progress to ensure continuity and timely completion of work.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Reporting and customer service duties (internal and external):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Prepare, assess, and interpret fish passage barrier inventory and prioritization survey resource information, regularly involving inter-program or external coordination, as situations warrant.<\/li>\n<li>Organize, analyze, and interpret data for the development of conclusions and recommendations for management, research, mitigation needs, and the groups who contract with us.<\/li>\n<li>Create maps using GIS software to effectively deliver and summarize study findings.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and finalize reports- includes coordinating with other report contributors.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Review outside requests for field data collection and assign work to field staff if appropriate.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><strong>Work Setting, including hazards:<\/strong>\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>This position demands a mix of office and occasional fieldwork.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Office hazards include working under fluorescent light, repetitively entering data into computer, looking at computer monitor for long periods of time, sitting or standing for long periods of time.<\/li>\n<li>Fieldwork includes hiking off-trail through dense vegetation and up and down extremely steep slopes. Work includes study sites in construction zones and recently harvested timberlands, and will include navigating over and under downed trees, wood and slash. The employee will at times be required to carry a heavy pack (&lt; 40 pounds) and other field equipment.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Schedule:<\/strong>\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:30pm.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Some long workdays may be required to accomplish fieldwork in remote locations.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>This position will be allowed to telework no more than two days a week and will be expected to attend meetings in-person at the discretion of the supervisor, even if they fall on their scheduled telework days.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Travel Requirements:<\/strong>\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>Travel will be required both locally and overnight, when not local, to conduct field work and may vary between 10% and 50% depending on the current projects being conducted.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tools and Equipment:<\/strong>\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>Use of measuring tapes, stadia rods, flowmeters mallets, clinometers, range finders, compass, handheld computers (PDAs), GPS, iPad, and other equipment necessary to collect field data.
