The GeoData team is responsible for GIS services including spatial data, mapping, data analysis and GIS enabled software solutions for County internal customers and the public.<\/div>\n<br \/>\n<div><strong>&#8211; Thurston County Information Technology Department Mission:\u00a0<\/strong>Partner with our customers to serve the public.<\/div>\n<div><strong>&#8211; Our Vision:\u00a0<\/strong>One team united as effective stewards of County resources to deliver continually improving competitive services that meet customer business needs.<\/div>\n<div><strong>&#8211; Our Customer Commitment:\u00a0<\/strong>We strive to build trust and to ensure that our customers feel welcomed, heard, informed, confident, and successful.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\nA GIS Analyst I serves as a technical representative to GIS clients and users and is responsible for complete and accurate applications of spatial and non-spatial data. This position will focus on data editing in Thurston County&#8217;s enterprise geodatabase environment and the Asset Management System for the Public Works Department. The incumbent must work independently and collaboratively as a technical expert providing technical support in spatial data capture, editing, use, and QA\/QC.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><u>Specific\u00a0responsibilities\u00a0include,\u00a0but\u00a0are\u00a0not\u00a0limited\u00a0to:<\/u>\n<ul>\n<li>Providing support in the use of the County&#8217;s GIS (GeoData) websites by the Public Works Department employees<\/li>\n<li>Responding\u00a0to\u00a0requests\u00a0for\u00a0technical\u00a0assistance\u00a0in\u00a0person,\u00a0via\u00a0phone,\u00a0and\u00a0electronically.\u00a0Installing,\u00a0and\u00a0tracking GIS software for the Public Works Department<\/li>\n<li>Performing\u00a0data\u00a0stewardship\u00a0of\u00a0various\u00a0spatial\u00a0data\u00a0themes in support of Public Works and the Asset Management System<\/li>\n<li>Performing mapping services for the Public Works Department particularly as it pertains to data maintenance.<\/li>\n<li>Developing and maintaining cartographic products Managing data sharing processes and agreements Assisting customers by remote access or guiding the customer to correct an issue Troubleshooting and diagnosis of GIS technology problems<\/li>\n<li>Testing and providing test support to GIS staff developing\/maintaining software applications for Public Works,<\/li>\n<li>Developing\u00a0and\u00a0providing\u00a0documentation\u00a0for\u00a0GIS\u00a0processes<\/li>\n<li>Developing and providing documentation for GIS processes<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating with GeoData Staff who support different functions in Public Works and those who support other County Departments and functions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<u>Working Conditions:\u00a0<\/u>Work is performed in an office environment. The position requires the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. Manual hand-dexterity to adequately manipulate computer components and operate a keyboard is essential. Sight is necessary to operate programs and systems and aid in diagnosing issues.\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>\n<h2>\u00a0<\/h2>\n<h2>Qualifications<\/h2>\n<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Associate degree in computer science, management information, engineering, geography, or related field.\u00a0<em>Additional experience, which demonstrates progressive increasing responsibilities, may substitute for education on a year for year basis.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>One (1) year of experience with GIS mapping related field work or applied use of GIS technology responsibility. Preferred experience should include a demonstrated knowledge in\u00a0<u>one or more\u00a0<\/u>of\u00a0the\u00a0following to\u00a0successfully perform\u00a0the\u00a0essential job\u00a0functions\u00a0of the\u00a0position:\n<ul>\n<li>Thorough knowledge of hardware including personal computers, network servers, communication devices, printers, plotters, data collection devices, mobile technologies, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Thorough knowledge of software including network and desktop operating systems, office automation, programming languages, and database products.<\/li>\n<li>Thorough knowledge of system and network security.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Current Washington State Driver&#8217;s License or have requested and obtained an appropriate accommodation.<\/li>\n<li>Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a security background investigation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>\n<h2>\u00a0<\/h2>\n<h2>Desired Skills<\/h2>\n<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div>To be successful in this position, candidates will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities required to support GIS services and business needs in a multi-functional environment:<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>Skill with Esri GIS products including ArcGIS Version 10.x, installing and troubleshooting same.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Experience data editing with versioned SDE database, creating and maintaining metadata in an ArcSDE environment, managing and administering spatial and non-spatial data including data development and data maintenance.\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Ability to participate as a member of a self-directed work team and utilize the resources of other team members.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Experience supporting customers with various skills levels, including the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels within the organization.\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Cartographic skills and the ability to create and maintain maps and map products.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals and groups including customers in stressful situations;
