Must be available for weekend and evening work.*<\/em><\/strong><br \/><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>Working under the guidance of the Public Education and Outreach team in the Public Works Department \u2013 Environmental Services Division, this position will support outreach efforts and assist in related field inspections.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<span style=\"color: revert;font-size: revert;font-weight: revert\">Essential Duties and Responsibilities<\/span><\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<ul>\n<li>Interact with multi-family and single-family residents, as well as property managers for businesses and apartments, educating them about proper recycling activities. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Inspect and monitor trash enclosures and recycling containers, recording data, and provide ongoing follow-up outreach to multi-family residents and school-aged children, multi-family property managers and maintenance staff, and staff at various businesses.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Provide support for setting up, staffing, and then taking down events, performing various event-related elements including: \u00a0planning, promotion, operating, and then evaluating events.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Help with outreach at schools, including visiting schools to help maintain aquariums, and support other outreach efforts.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Help maintain water quality testing equipment and manage equipment checkouts with volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>Operate desktop computers, copiers and printers, maintain accurate and orderly files, and record data accurately, and save digital information in specified subdirectories.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Distribute education and outreach materials, and provide input on draft materials.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Help optimize the City\u2019s internal waste reduction and recycling efforts at various facilities.
