Crab pots are empty. \" \/><\/div>\n<p><em>Westport Crab Pots &#8211; Photo Credit: WDFW\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Our Crab Harvest Sampling Technician,<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Observes and counts crabbers, empty boat trailers, vehicles and\/or crab pots from land, docks, and\/or aboard vessels.<\/li>\n<li>Collects biological crab data including species, sex, shell hardness, length, and weight.<\/li>\n<li>Always follows appropriate safety practices while conducting field sampling, following established methods.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Records daily catch data using tablets or paper forms.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Syncs data to database at the end of each sampling day.<\/li>\n<li>Performs QA\/QC on their own data.<\/li>\n<li>Cleans and maintains all equipment and tools to ensure that equipment is available and functions properly when needed.<\/li>\n<li>Drives a state vehicle on freeways, rural roads, and coastal beaches under all weather conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Performs other shellfish related duties.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Work Setting, including hazards: \u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Work locations include office, dockside, beach, and shipboard, in all types of weather and ocean conditions.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to negotiate water in emergency situations.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Ability to fully and effectively complete assigned duties and tasks while at sea, especially during rough seas and inclement weather.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Spend long periods of time standing, bending, and walking along boat ramps, docks, and slippery surfaces.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Driving a 4&#215;4 pick-up truck on beaches navigating debris and washouts.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Safely handle live crab to avoid being pinched.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Schedule: \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Monday &#8211; Sunday, non-scheduled, 24\/7, 40 hours per week, weekend, working holidays, and occasional long hours required.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Typically, 8 to 10 hours per day.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The work may require long and odd hours during peak crabbing times.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Workdays and hours are flexible to meet project needs.
