In addition, the laboratory maintains an FDA-certified State Laboratory Evaluation Officer (LEO) who regulates outside milk laboratories in Washington for antibiotic and microbial testing. Our laboratory analyzes dairy products, ready-to-eat foods, produce, animal feed and environmental samples. When there is a food emergency (food-borne illness), WSDA’s Food Safety & Consumer Services Laboratory responds and provides rapid and defensible data to support regulators and epidemiologists in their quest to resolve the emergency.<\/p>\n
TheManagement Analyst supports the FSCS lab to ensure all federal and state regulations and requirements and to ensure the dairy products produced are safe for human consumption. They also support the program\u2019s food lab serving as the primary state food safety laboratory, analyzes ready-to-eat human food and produce for food safety and safe production and works hand in hand with the Food Safety program regulating human food produced in Washington. This position will be responsible for directly maintaining the federal awards (e.g. LFFM) to WSDA through an FDA Cooperative Agreement (s) as its Coordinator. The Management Analyst takes a collaborative approach working with the principal investigator for LFFM and other technical staff within the FS&CS and local, state, federal and industry stakeholders to successfully meet the intent of each technical component under comprehensive cooperative agreements. This position also works in concert with the Food Safety Program and Animal Feed Program regional managers and field supervisors by coordinating and assisting with regulatory activities.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This position provides professional and technical recommendations to the management as well as consults with executive management and program management to develop policies and procedures that affect the FSCS function. The Management Analyst reviews the budget and\/or expenditures for multiple grants and programs within the program, reviews the fiscal work completed by other staff members and works directly with the WSDA fiscal office. This position is the administrator for the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS database) and communicates directly with the database developer to resolve issues with the software. The position leads the ongoing LIMS project group to evaluate, propose and make recommendations to enhance the LIMS system.
