Warm Springs\u00a0Forestry\u00a0is\u00a0looking for\u00a0a driven\u00a0individual\u00a0with\u00a0a &#8216;can do!&#8217; attitude to\u00a0fill this position.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>Familiar with using ArcGIS\u00a0or ArcGIS Pro, ability to learn or use Forest Projection System (FPS), and Microsoft Access and Excel. Strong technical writing skills are a must.\u00a0Professional knowledge of silviculture, forest entomology and forest pathology, plant physiology, forest soils, and botany to evaluate and successfully reforest areas found on the Reservation.\u00a0Professional knowledge of cone\u00a0collection and seed processing on a large scale to ensure enough seed is gathered and maintained to support the reforestation program. Knowledge of conifer species reproduction\u00a0cycle to properly time harvesting of tree cones for optimal seed yield.\u00a0Knowledge of natural\u00a0resource planning, environmental sciences, ecology, silviculture, reforestation, forest inventory and other related fields to assist in preparation of Forest Management and Integrated Resource plans. Knowledge of conifer nursery practices and procedures to ensure for production of desired tree seedlings for regenerating harvested forest sites. Experience in procuring nursery services to produce target seedlings for upwards of 6 to 8 different conifers species used for artificial regeneration.\u00a0The\u00a0complexity involved in managing a complex program warrant that the individual must be an experienced professional forester. The incumbent, under the direction of the Forest Development Supervisor, ensures that the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Trust forest lands are properly managed to insure sustainability for future generations. Contract administration can involve up to eight contractors working at different locations throughout the reservation. Contract guidelines and specifications can vary widely depending upon the stand type and ecological conditions. Treatment areas vary from low elevation ponderosa pine to true fir species in the higher elevations. Incumbent is responsible for effective and efficient execution of the artificial regeneration program on the reservation. Incumbent ensures nursery(s) contracts produce ideal seedlings to ensure for optimum growth, survival, and stocking of regenerated forest lands.\u00a0\u00a0It\u00a0is essential that the incumbent utilize effective communication skills, both oral and written, while administering both nursery and planting contracts in order to ensure for thorough and successful execution of reforestation program. The incumbent&#8217;s responsibility of successfully executing the reforestation program is vital as it ensures sustainable management of the Tribes trust forest lands. Incumbent must be able to deal with all levels of contractor&#8217;s skills and abilities in attaining contract compliance.\u00a0The incumbent supplies supervisor with appropriate empirical\u00a0data and suggestions in implementing and improving the overall forest development program.
