The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is looking for a\u00a0<strong>Communications Coordinator<\/strong>\u00a0to join our Communications Department.<br \/><br \/>This position supports other communications managers and contributes to strategic guidance to the Communications Director and Deputy Communications Director, along with division, region, and program staff. This position also helps prepare materials for the commissioner of public lands for media interviews on a range of issues and supports other communications managers in message crafting and editing as needed. This position supports the Communications and Outreach division in outreach to media, the planning and implementation of media events, and in emergencies\/crises. This position also serves as the alternate\/backup webmaster as needed and works with Communications and Outreach staff, region staff, division staff, and program staff to create, edit, and publish agency materials and information on the agency\u2019s public-facing website.\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>\n<h2>Duties<\/h2>\n<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Works with appropriate divisions regions, and programs to publish information about Agency programs, projects, initiatives, and more, including cross-agency initiatives, internally on SharePoint and externally on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dnr.wa.gov\/\">dnr.wa.gov<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Supports the Agency webmaster in implementing emergency and rapid response communications across all agency web platforms.<\/li>\n<li>Maintains all website certifications to perform duties and to help oversee the website training and certification completion for Division, Region, and Program staff within the agency who are assigned as \u201cwebbers\u201d, or staff who can create and update content for the website.<\/li>\n<li>Helps manage Agency Content Management System (Currently Drupal in 2024)<\/li>\n<li>Helps maintain a website through Drupal WYSIWYG interfaces and modules, editing and writing HTML and CSS as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain knowledge of website PHP, CSS, and HTML to diagnose issues and solve problems, and support Agency webmasters as they work with WaTech or other providers to address problems if needed.<\/li>\n<li>Supports the Agency webmaster manager DNR website needs, including developing web pages to address the complex needs of different programs, which can involve coordinating with outside contractors, posting all agency- and public-facing content to comply with all Open Public Meeting Act requirements, and strategizing with divisions and programs on how to best facilitate posting of content to serve the agency and the public.<\/li>\n<li>Helps update and maintain all media distribution lists in systems such as Meltwater<\/li>\n<li>Helps manage all electronic dissemination tools for the agency and Communications &amp; Outreach program, including Meltwater and SurveyMonkey, which are used throughout the agency.<\/li>\n<li>Lead on posting all media advisories, press releases, public notices, and public information for Commissioner initiatives, cross-agency initiatives, committee work, and legislative reports online.<\/li>\n<li>Supports Communications Managers, the Communications Director, and the Deputy Director on strategic media strategies and outreach, including providing recommendations on public relations decisions and strategies.<\/li>\n<li>Supports on-the-record spokespeople for DNR and the Commissioner of Public Lands on agency issues.<\/li>\n<li>Supports the tracking, development, research, and planning for DNR media stories and events including: drafting news releases;
