This project position is funded through a legislative proviso and other resources through June 30, 2026, with continuation dependent of additional funding.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This position manages program operation, education, training, tracking, and reporting for Sustainability in Prisons Project\u2019s (<span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>) Turtle, Butterfly, and Avian Acoustic Monitoring Ecological Conservation programs at Cedar Creek and Mission Creek Corrections Centers. The incumbent supervises Conservation Program Coordinators and manages program partnerships. The position is also responsible for reviewing and updating SPP\u2019s operations systems, protocols, and trainings to improve resources for&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>&nbsp;and to adapt select materials for use by the broader, Evergreen Prison Education Program Network (<span class=\"caps\">EPEP<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Position Purpose<\/h3>\n<div>As part of the&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">EPEP<\/span>&nbsp;teams, this position cultivates collaborations with diverse program partners to advance&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">EPEP<\/span>&nbsp;missions listed below:<\/div>\n<div><span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>: We empower sustainable change by bringing science, nature, and environmental education into prisons.<\/div>\n<div><span class=\"caps\">EPEP<\/span>: Our mission is to expand access to an Evergreen education and holistic support services for currently incarcerated and legally liberated people.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The position collaborates with an engaged community of incarcerated people, scientists, researchers, technicians, corrections professionals, program coordinators, faculty, staff, and students to provide impactful education and training and resolve complex program management issues. The incumbent demonstrates high value for equity and inclusion, empowering change, working across differences to increase access to education, and ability to consistently extend respect and compassion to all partners and interested parties.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>This position reports to the Co-Director, Sustainability in Prisons Project and Evergreen Prison Education Project Network. The position ensures effective operation of&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>&nbsp;Ecological Conservation programs and development of&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">EPEP<\/span>&nbsp;training resources. The incumbent contributes to a healthy, respectful, caring, and professional work environment. The position directly supervises three half-time student staff and may supervise non-permanent staff and\/or volunteers for specific projects.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h3>Nature and Scope<\/h3>\n<p>This work includes exposure to potentially difficult information, people struggling with health and other life circumstances, and sometimes challenging work environments. We aim to support the incumbent in processing difficult aspects of the work in healthy and productive ways, including support from supervisors, team members, and community and by engaging in training, group-care, and other practices which support wellbeing. We are deeply dedicated to positive change, collective liberation, and consistent compassion to provide effective support for incarcerated and legally liberated students.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong><em><span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>&nbsp;Ecological Conservation Program Management (~50%)<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage collaborations between Washington Corrections staff,&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>-Evergreen staff (professional, temporary, student, and contract staff), conservation organizations, and other partners to develop, maintain, and enhance educational opportunities for incarcerated people in SPP\u2019s conservation programs including Turtle Rehabilitation, Butterfly Captive Rearing, Avian Acoustic Monitoring, and other new and established conservation programs, as resources allow.<\/li>\n<li>Supervise three, half-time student program coordinator positions, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating performance, and supporting effective program operation; conduct weekly meetings with employees to prioritize tasks, set goals, discuss progress, receive input, and problem solve; depending on funding, program priorities, and capacity, may supervise student interns or volunteer positions.<\/li>\n<li>Manage planning, developing, reviewing, and updating new and established conservation program protocols, education plans, and portfolios.<\/li>\n<li>Manage conservation program logistics, such as equipment and supplies ordering, inventory, file organization, developing agendas, and facilitating meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Manage collaborations with others to effectively address and resolve program and\/or partnership challenges; develop and maintain processes for receiving program feedback and adjusting program operations based on partner input, including incarcerated people, corrections staff, students, conservation organizations, and others.<\/li>\n<li>Approve conservation program expenditures, track expenses in systems established by&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>, make purchases, and draft expense estimates.<\/li>\n<li>Document decisions, strategies, and actions for effective program management.<\/li>\n<li>Support ecological conservation programs by serving as the back-up staff when the Program Coordinator is unavailable and\/or additional staff are needed for programs, including butterfly, turtle, avian acoustic monitoring, conservation nursery, beekeeping, gardening, and other.<\/li>\n<li>Occasionally work evenings and weekends in response to living organism and partner needs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h3>Essential Functions<\/h3>\n<h4><strong><em><span class=\"caps\">EPEP<\/span>&nbsp;Operations Resources and Training (~35%)<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Foster positive relationships with all&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>&nbsp;partners and&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">EPEP<\/span>&nbsp;Network members, including Liberation Scholars, Gateways for Incarcerated Youth, and Evergreen Inside, as well as incarcerated people, Washington Corrections, Evergreen State College, agency, and non-profit staff and leadership.<\/li>\n<li>Cultivate positive relationships with potential new partner organizations, individuals, and experts to develop and\/or improve existing operations and training resources.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to effective teamwork and pursue excellence for the&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">EPEP<\/span>&nbsp;teams.<\/li>\n<li>Manage&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">EPEP<\/span>&nbsp;protocol and training resources; make updates as requested by&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">EPEP<\/span>&nbsp;staff.<\/li>\n<li>Lead, develop, and deliver select&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">EPEP<\/span>&nbsp;Network new hire and team trainings.<\/li>\n<li>Adapt&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>&nbsp;protocols, procedures, reporting, and training resources for widespread use by the&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">EPEP<\/span>&nbsp;Network.<\/li>\n<li>Work with&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>,&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">EPEP<\/span>, and other college office staff to identify, document, and improve operations resources and processes.<\/li>\n<li>Support&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">SPP<\/span>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">EPEP<\/span>&nbsp;training and team building activities;
