This position requires knowledge, understanding, and experience applying GIS technology solutions to local government enterprise GIS.<\/div>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>\n<h2>Examples of Duties<\/h2>\n<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div>Performs technical work designing, developing, and implementing GIS applications in an enterprise GIS environment.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Oversees the operation and maintenance of existing GIS databases and applications.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Develops GIS procedures and solves spatial problems through techniques of GIS analysis.<\/div>\n<div>Prepares cartographic products as needed by Mason County, other agencies and the public and performs related work as required.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Performs data creation, data development and conversion from various sources of information, data editing, and quality assurance\/quality control.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Works with GIS users to define functional requirements for GIS applications, and supports the GIS user base by monitoring user feedback, identifying technical problems and solutions, and maintaining software applications.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Prepares FGDC metadata documentation, and preserves accuracy standards.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Scheduled visits to observe field data collection for the purpose of improving and sustaining effective interaction between the GIS Department and field survey crews.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Reading and interpreting legal descriptions, engineering drawings, survey notes, and tract descriptions.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Regular, reliable and punctual attendance.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Shows initiative in performing job functions.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Performs related work as required.<\/div>\n<br \/><em>Knowledge of:<\/em><br \/>\n<ul>\n<li>The principles and techniques of applying GIS technology solutions to local government.<\/li>\n<li>FGDC Metadata content and accuracy standards.<\/li>\n<li>Oracle, SQL and\/or Access.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<em>Skills in:<\/em><br \/>\n<ul>\n<li>Using the ESRI suite of products and AutoCAD.<\/li>\n<li>Technical writing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<em>Ability to:<\/em><br \/>\n<ul>\n<li>Structure and design databases.<\/li>\n<li>Manage time efficiently.<\/li>\n<li>Communicate courteously and effectively, both orally and in writing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>\n<h2>Minimum Qualifications<\/h2>\n<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div>Bachelor\u2019s degree in Geography\/Cartography\/GIS, Civil Engineering, Computer Science or related field.<\/div>\n<br \/>Four (4) years minimum experience with the development and implementation of GIS technology, including: One (1) year of program or project management experience, experience training non-GIS personnel in GIS applications, and experience in application programming and development using VBA, XML, JSP, SQL and HTML.<br \/><br \/><strong>LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 \u00a0 \u00a0 Valid Washington State Driver\u2019s License.<br \/>\u2022 \u00a0 \u00a0 Maintenance of current skills and additional training as needed.<br \/><br \/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>\n<h2>Supplemental Information<\/h2>\n<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div>New regular employees shall normally be placed at Step 1 of the appropriate salary range.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>This position is covered under the Mason County\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dms.masoncountywa.gov\/WebLink\/DocView.aspx?id=504731&amp;dbid=0&amp;repo=Mason\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Engineers&#8217; Guild Collective Bargaining Agreement<\/a>.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><strong>OTHER COMPENSATION:\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong>BILINGUAL PAY:\u00a0<\/strong>Seventy-five dollars ($75.00) per month for the General certification.
