fr-view\">\n<dl>\n<dt>\n<h2>Duties<\/h2>\n<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Here is some of what you will be doing:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conducts gill net surveys associated with suppression activities of invasive fish species in Region 1.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Collects and records biological data on fish including species identification, total length, fork length, weight, sex and maturity.<\/li>\n<li>Euthanizes non-native species to support suppression activities.<\/li>\n<li>Maintains and repairs fish sampling equipment including but not limited to gill nets, dip nets, anchors, ropes, electronic balances, PIT tag readers, and GPS units.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Compiles field data and enters data into computer using Microsoft Office programs (EXCEL, Word) and conducts quality assurance\/quality control to ensure data is free of errors and ready for analysis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><strong>Work Setting, including hazards:<\/strong>\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>Work is primarily conducted in field and warehouse settings and involves many hours of vehicle travel.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Field work is conducted during inclement weather (including extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, snow, ice, and working in cold water for long periods of time).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Field work is primarily conducted on a boat for long hours on large bodies of water.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Boat conditions include slippery, wet, uneven surfaces and wavy conditions.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Requires repetitive heavy lifting associated with setting and pulling gill nets (up to 50 lbs.).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Potential injuries including cuts, scrapes, bruises, muscle strains and other injuries associated with the physical nature of field activities. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Requires repetitive lifting and carrying equipment weighing 75 pounds or more for short distances.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to negotiate water in emergency situations.<\/li>\n<li>Work may be conducted in an office setting occasionally and require working on a computer and looking at a monitor for long hours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Schedule:<\/strong>\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>Generally, 40 hours\/ week, Monday \u2013 Friday (extensive overtime is likely). &nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>May require working more than 8 hours per day on a boat in a team setting.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Work is conducted primarily during the day but some activities may extend into the evening on occasion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Travel Requirements:<\/strong>\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>Requires extensive travel times within the workday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tools and Equipment:<\/strong>\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>Boats, manual hand tools, electronic balances, handheld PIT tag readers, handheld GPS, net repair tools, fish picks, knives.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Personal protective equipment are generally worn throughout the day including, Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs), rain gear, waders, boots, gloves, ear protection, and eye protection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Customer Interactions:<\/strong>\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>May Interact with the public at boat ramps and on the QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Graduation from high school or GED including 1 year of high school science,&nbsp;<strong>and<\/strong>&nbsp;two (2) years of experience as a Scientific Technician 1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Or<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Graduation from high school or GED including 1 year of high school science,&nbsp;<strong>and<\/strong>&nbsp;two (2) involving major study in biology, zoology, fisheries, chemistry, natural sciences, or closely allied field will substitute, year for year, for experience, provided the course work includes at least
