The primary role of the Regulation Assistance Forester is to provide guidance and expert technical assistance to help small forest landowners in preparing to conduct forest practice activities on their forest land. The position will help landowners understand and apply the Forest Practices Rules and Board Manual guidance, prepare Forest Practices Applications, landowner alternate plans, long-term applications, alternate plan templates, 20-acre exempt harvest activities, and other forest practices. The Regulation Assistance Forester will also perform non-regulatory forest road surveys to assess the condition of small forest landowner roads. The duty station for this position is flexible. The location of the duty station will depend upon the proximity of the residence of the successful candidate.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>\n<h2>Qualifications<\/h2>\n<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry, or related field AND two years of operational field experience in forest management,<br>OR an equivalent combination of education and\/or experience.<\/li>\n<li>At least two years of operational field experience in forest management.<\/li>\n<li>Current working knowledge of WA Forest Practices Rules and Forest Practices Board Manual guidance.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with general forest management activities such as forest road design and construction, timber management planning, silvicultural techniques, reforestation methods, and timber harvest boundaries.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills, including teaching or public presentation experience.<\/li>\n<li>Experience working cooperatively and effectively with other agencies and organizations.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to use basic forestry tools (measuring tools and hand tools).<\/li>\n<li>Accustomed to working independently with little supervision.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting an environment that honors diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice practices.<\/li>\n<li>Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, and regulations, and public records retention and requests are followed.<\/li>\n<li>Highly motivated toward accomplishing set goals.<\/li>\n<li>Has the acceptance, cooperation, and mutual regard of the general public, external stakeholders, and other governmental agencies.<\/li>\n<li>Works well independently and effectively manages multiple tasks at different stages.<\/li>\n<li>DNR Core Competencies:\n<ul>\n<li>Personal Accountability<\/li>\n<li>Value Others<\/li>\n<li>Compassionate Communication<\/li>\n<li>Inspire Others<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to Excellence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<strong>Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Work is performed in a combination of office, field, and classroom settings.
