The Forestry Division in\u00a0Anderson, CA<\/span>\u00a0has an opening for a qualified forester with a working knowledge of forest inventory methods and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) experience. This position qualifies towards RPF experience requirements.
About The Position<\/span><\/strong>
\u2022 Leverage modern technology for on-the-ground forestry applications
\u2022 Collaborate with internal and contract technical specialists to perform data queries and analysis using GIS
\u2022 Effectively generate maps and resource reports
\u2022 Install, troubleshoot, and manage various forestry-related programs and software
\u2022 Maintain and update GIS map files and associated data in relational databases
\u2022 Manage data collection for the Company\u2019s annual timber harvest depletion
\u2022 Manage files and reports related to the Company\u2019s carbon offset program
\u2022 Read and interpret maps and aerial photography
\u2022 Hike in extremely remote and mountainous regions using maps, compass, and GPS
Qualifications<\/span><\/strong>
\u2022 Bachelors\u2019 degree in Forestry, GIS, or Natural Resources discipline
\u2022 Working experience using ArcGIS Pro
\u2022 Demonstrated capability installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer programs and software
\u2022 Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
\u2022 Experience with R, Python, or SQL databases is a plus
\u2022 Familiarity with standard data collection tools such as iPads and GPS and file sharing\/data management applications
\u2022 Working knowledge of forest inventory methods and GIS
\u2022 Experience with QGIS and Avenza is desirable
\u2022 Demonstrated organizational skills with superior attention to detail
\u2022 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
\u2022 Positive attitude, self-motivated, ability to work as a team member in a crew environment
\u2022 Valid California driver\u2019s license
