We work across the majority of San Diego County on a variety of programs, including fire prevention and education, watershed education, school garden<br \/>support, promotion of pollinator habitat, management of two large community gardens and Wild Willow Farm.<\/p>\n<p>Wild Willow Farm is a regenerative, educational farm located in San Diego\u2019s South Bay. The farm provides educational experiences that inspire people to connect to food, land, and each other. The farm\u2019s education programs include workshops, courses, a farming internship, a field trip and group activities program, and public volunteering.<\/p>\n<p>We are seeking a Farm Education Coordinator who is passionate about teaching children and people of all ages about the benefits of sustainable farming and land stewardship. The primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate the farm\u2019s Field Trip Program, which offers hands-on educational experiences about food growing and farm biodiversity. Field trips are available to groups ages four and up. Most field trips are for schools, camps, scout groups, home school groups, and college students. Field trips typically include four separate rotations of the farm and may also include a nature walk. The Farm Education Coordinator also coordinates farm experiences with adult groups (often a farm tour or activity), public events, and public volunteering days.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serve as the point of contact for the field trip program: Respond to field trip application queries in a timely manner and work with groups to book their trips; send confirmation email and paperwork; confirm field trip details, including desired rotations; greet group upon arrival; collect waivers and payments; and lead field trips.<\/li>\n<li>Work with Wild Willow Farm staff to plan relevant, seasonal activities for field trip rotations.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate staffing and preparation for farm educational activities, including field trips, group activities, events, and public volunteering.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in set up before and clean up after field trips. This includes cleaning the bathrooms and the barn, emptying trash, putting away tools properly, cleaning the kitchen, harvesting and preparing produce to taste, replacing soap and towels at hand washing stations, and attending a debriefing session.<\/li>\n<li>Train or support other field trip leaders or interns to learn field trip content and procedures needed.<\/li>\n<li>Serve as the point of contact for adult groups that wish to visit the farm for educational experiences. Communicate pricing structure, options for activities,support the registration process, and lead activities on the day of the visit.<\/li>\n<li>With input from farm staff, plan activities for monthly public volunteering mornings. This includes identifying tasks needed on the farm, greeting volunteers upon arrival, splitting them into working groups, and debriefing them on the days\u2019 activities.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the wellbeing of participants and that safety protocols are followed.<\/li>\n<li>Attend staff meetings and training and development sessions.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0BA\/BS in an environmental or education field from an accredited school or four years of experience with a non-profit organization or public agency in a similar field and able to demonstrate transferable skills and experience.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of working with children in an educational capacity, preferably outdoors.<\/li>\n<li>Fluent English speaker.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint and Excel.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to prepare and maintain detailed and accurate records, reports, and written correspondence.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate respectfully and compassionately to children, parents, teachers, and coworkers.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate using texting, email, mobile app, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Must possess a current, valid California driver&#8217;s license, current proof of automobile insurance coverage, and reliable transportation.<\/li>\n<li>First Aid certified or willing to be certified upon hire.<\/li>\n<li>Able to take direction, and willingness to learn.<\/li>\n<li>Must comply with all RCD rules, personal policies and standards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Desired Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience in farming and gardening, preferably organic\/regenerative practice<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of food systems, nutrition and sustainability<\/li>\n<li>Bilingual in Spanish<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with diverse populations<\/li>\n<li>Excellent behavior management skills\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Schedule and Location<\/strong><br \/>The Farm Education Coordinator position is located at Wild Willow Farm. Field trips and group activities take place Tuesdays \u2013 Saturdays, typically between 8:00am and 3:00pm. A schedule will be set upon hire.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Compensation and Benefits<\/strong><br \/>The RCDGSDC offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
