This opportunity is one of two Professional Land Surveyor positions within the Engineering Division, State Land Survey Unit responsible for composing legal descriptions for land transactions and rights of ways and reviewing existing land descriptions for accuracy and completeness for leases, rights of ways and transactions for any DNR Division and or Region that is involved in land transactions of any kind. The State Land Survey Unit also has two PLS positions supporting DNR Aquatic Land management needs, two PLS positions in remote offices that supervise field crews, and two LSITs drafting\u00a0maps\u00a0and updating the GIS\u00a0Cadastre\u00a0layers. We rely on our Professionals to provide accurate surveys and legal descriptions of land that are necessary to DNR’s mission to protect Washington\u2019s lands when transacting resource lands, conservation lands, granting or acquiring rights in lands for access, leasing, product sales, or resource protection.\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n
- Duties<\/strong><\/dt>\n

Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n
- \n
- Review legal descriptions for land transactions (acquisitions and disposals), leases, rights of ways, and other types of use authorizations. Write new legal descriptions for transactions when necessary, Determine land areas for the purposes of land sales, acquisitions, exchanges, and leases.<\/li>\n
- Review, critique, and\/or accept all right-of-way plats, and upland lease plats for correct technical data and proper form that are submitted to, or created by the agency, Aquatic lease or easement plats may also be reviewed by this position depending on workload within the State Land Survey Unit. \u00a0<\/li>\n
- Perform computations and platting related to land parcel descriptions and land survey maps. \u00a0<\/li>\n
- Plan, create instructional materials, and instruct classroom, virtual, or seminar-style classes on surveying and legal descriptions for various agency programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

- High School diploma or equivalent.<\/li>\n
- Eight years experience in Land Surveying;

- This position reports to the Natural Resource Building where the incumbent will work in an open cubicle environment.\u00a0<\/li>\n

- Must possess and maintain a Washington State Professional Land Surveyors License.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nDesired Qualifications:<\/strong>\n

- Associate degree or higher in a field related to Land Surveying.<\/li>\n
- Experience analyzing land title and title history records.<\/li>\n
- Knowledge and experience using ESRI GIS software.<\/li>\n
- Knowledge and experience using AutoCAD with land survey extensions such as Carlson Survey.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
