It is in your best interest to submit materials as soon as possible.\u00a0<br \/><br \/><strong>Want to join something GREAT and make a difference?<\/strong><br \/>Northeast Region is actively seeking a\u00a0<strong>Regulation and Prevention Technician (Wildland Fire Management Supervisor)\u00a0<\/strong>for our North Columbia fire unit, located in Colville, WA. \u00a0<br \/><br \/>The Regulation and Prevention Technician is responsible for wildfire suppression, prevention, and regulation throughout our region including state trust lands. The North Columbia Unit conducts suppression actions on an average of 120 fire starts annually, processes approximately 75 burn permit requests annually, and provides training courses to local cooperators. \u00a0Interagency cooperation occurs in the majority of wildland fires and in most fire training courses. Interagency cooperation includes working with local fire districts, and state, and federal partners and is a key function of these positions.\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt><strong>Duties<\/strong><\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><br \/>The Regulation and Preventions Technician has a great influence on the quality, image, and message delivered to the general public of Washington State. This position works closely with stakeholders and other agencies and plays a leadership role in fire suppression activities. \u00a0<br \/><br \/>The majority of the duties will include administering and approving burn permits, interpreting\/applying fire regulations and IFPL restrictions, conducting wildland fire investigations, and fire suppression. This position will act as a Wildland Fire Investigator regularly. The Regulation and Prevention Technician will work closely with fire suppression resources to suppress and prevent the spread of wildland fire. \u00a0<br \/><br \/>Other duties will include but are not limited to being a lead and\/or unit instructor for NWCG fire courses for wildland fire training, leading, and participating in wildland fire prevention activities. The Northeast Region is a fast-paced and complex work environment that requires an individual who will work within the team&#8217;s goals and dynamics to be successful.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High School Diploma or GED.<\/li>\n<li>Experience With:\n<ul>\n<li>Firefighting techniques, practices, terminology, equipment, and other resources for wildland fire management including support needs, communications, and safety precautions.<\/li>\n<li>Wildland fire regulatory practices, and burn permit processes.<\/li>\n<li>Fire weather technology, weather\u2019s effect on various fuel types, and knowledge of weather as it influences fire behavior.<\/li>\n<li>Professionally communicating with a variety of groups including subordinates, superiors, the public, and other partner organizations both written, verbal, and face-to-face, especially in stressful situations.<\/li>\n<li>Developing and maintaining cooperative, effective working relationships both internally and externally.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>NWCG Qualifications:\n<ul>\n<li>Single Resource Boss<\/li>\n<li>Incident Commander Type 5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Proven experience in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, mapping, and Global Positioning technology.<\/li>\n<li>General knowledge of conducting Wildland Fire Origin and Cause Determination investigations.<\/li>\n<li>DNR Core Competencies:\n<ul>\n<li>Personal Accountability<\/li>\n<li>Value Others<\/li>\n<li>Compassionate Communication<\/li>\n<li>Inspire Others<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to Excellence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<strong>Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The fire suppression work is strenuous outdoor work in all weather conditions. The position requires significant driving and field visits within geographically assigned areas.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to obtain NWCG \u201cRed Card\u201d Qualification of Wildland Fire Investigator within 18 months of appointment.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Ability to obtain NWCG \u201cRed Card\u201d Qualification of Incident Commander Type 4 within two years of appointment.<\/li>\n<li>A valid unrestricted driver\u2019s license and have two years of driving experience. This position requires driving as an essential function. Finalists and\/or interview candidates will be asked to provide a driving record from all states in which they have held a license during the past three years.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<strong>Desired Qualifications:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>A Bachelor&#8217;s or Associate&#8217;s Degree in a Fire Science, Natural Resource, or related field.
