The Executive Director oversees the successful maintenance of organizational systems and resources and tends the organization\u2019s mission, vision, and strategic effort. The Executive Director leads the organization\u2019s fundraising activities, budget development and monitoring. This individual also leads internal and external communications, cultural development, and staff tending.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Centering Justice and Equity, Organizational Development, and Strategic Planning:<\/strong>\u00a0Provides leadership in the organization\u2019s collaborative processes for strategic planning, specifically, guiding program strategies to ensure Bark follows through on our commitment to environmental and racial justice.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensures the development and maintenance of equitable staff management structure, systems, processes, and mechanisms of accountability.<\/li>\n<li>Leads strategic planning updates and keeps the strategic plan alive within the organization and ensures that overall day-to-day operations are aligned with strategic goals.<\/li>\n<li>Centers equity and justice in all that Bark does, internally and externally<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Finances:<\/strong>\u00a0Creates and implements annual budget with the support of the operations and program staff. Ensures best practices of fiscal management are executed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fundraising:\u00a0<\/strong>Creates, supervises, and executes strategies to sustain and expand community investment, including individual giving (annual giving and major gifts), corporate donations, and foundation grants. Uses a community-centric fundraising approach to achieve the organization&#8217;s community investment goals. Plays an active role in the Development Team&#8217;s goal-setting, work-planning, activities, and assessment. Engages in major donor cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation as well as grant writing as needed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Administration and Board Support:\u00a0<\/strong>Manages overall operations and development systems. This position ensures the organization operates legally within all federal, state and local laws.\u00a0Supports the Board of Directors in their engagement with the organization, board development, and their comprehension of regular reporting by the staff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Organizational Leadership:\u00a0<\/strong>Leads the development and maintenance of a healthy organizational culture, in which relationships are tended and staff are supported. Supervises development, operations, and program staff to ensure that they are supported and accountable to the organization\u2019s mission, vision, and strategic plan. Leads internal development and tending of management structure, systems, processes, and mechanisms of accountability.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Management of Union Contract:<\/strong>\u00a0Ensures organizational sustainability and good relations with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) through negotiating and upholding the Collective Bargaining Agreement who represent Bark\u2019s outreach staff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Partnerships:\u00a0<\/strong>Represents the organization in coalitions, community partnerships and media.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Desired Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrated history of successful staff management, organizational development, and strategic leadership.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with nonprofit fundraising and resource development, including annual giving, major gifts, corporate giving, and foundation grants.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated leadership skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple and competing commitments successfully.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans.<\/li>\n<li>Leadership experience in environmental justice and conservation organizations and movements preferred, but not necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with nonprofit operations, including financial management and budget development, human resources and labor relations, and nonprofit Boards.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in public interest advocacy and\/or social change organizing.<\/li>\n<li>Strong background in cultivating partnerships with movement partners, community members, funders, and donors.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication and relationship management skills, including aptitude for conflict resolution and knowledge of policies and practices for creating an equitable workplace.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"job-frame__how-to-apply__title\"><strong>HOW TO APPLY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bark is an inclusive workplace for people of all backgrounds and walks of life.
