POINT DEFIANCE ZOO AND AQUARIUM<\/strong>
Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium(PDZA) is the only combined zoo and aquarium in the Pacific Northwest. The 29-acre zoological park was established in 1905, and attracts about 700,000 visitors a year. It is nationally accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA), which ensures rigorously high standards of animal welfare, veterinary care, conservation, education and more.

POSITION INFORMATION<\/strong>
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, participate in the maintenance of Park District grounds, buildings and facilities in an assigned division or area.<\/p>\n\n
<\/strong>This position is responsible for performing routine building and ground maintenance duties to assist in the care and maintenance of Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium buildings, facilities, and grounds. Duties may include:<\/p>\n\n
– Must be at least 16 years of age (Maint. Asst. I \u2013 does not require driving)
– Must be able to operate a variety of hand tools and maintenance equipment to perform assigned tasks.
\u00a0– Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds
\u00a0– Must have good oral communication skills
\u00a0– Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision
\u00a0– Must be able to work flexible schedule to include weekends and\/or holidays as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT II ONLY:<\/strong>
\u00a0– Must be at least 18 years of age
\u00a0– Must have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (must attach a 5 year driving abstract or complete motor vehicle report to application in order to be considered for the Maint Asst II position, failure to attach abstract will result in applicant only being considered for the Maint Asst I position)
– Previous grounds maintenance or park operation experience required.<\/p>\n
<\/strong>HOURS:<\/strong> Up to 29 hours per week. \u00a0Days and hours per week may vary as needed.<\/p>\n
